|
*From the Offices of the Protectorate, bearing the seal of the city of Britain, a letter is grasped in the hands of a messenger, destined for the city of Minoc.*
Lord Nottingham of the Capaddocians,
When one holds their honor in the manner of swine, they must be prepared to be slaughtered as such an animal.
War is upon you, we will meet on the battlefield. No city, no men nor women, will be cursed with your presence ever again. Make peace with your life.
Detective Orelen Reaucher,
General of the Protectorate Armed Forces.
Collective Sosaria.
*The messenger delivers the notice directly to the hands of Ian and is instructed to ride off without accepting a return message.* |

Kelly finds the messenger and takes the letter...As the messenger goes to leave she bids him to stay. She opens the letter and reads it. Smirking, she goes into a shop and gets a parchment ink and quill.
Detective Orelen
Lord Nottingham is quite occupied and unable to answer your letter. And since he is busy, I tend to the business. What seems to be the issue that has caused such a threat to come forth? We gave back that which you wanted. Is that not enough? You seek to extinguish us? I can assure you that is a dire mistake on your part.
Regens Domina of the Cappadocians,
Kelly Darkhaven
Kelly placed the wax seal on it and handed it to the messenger. |

After reading the response, he struck a match and set the flame to the corner of the message.
He thought to himself in the dark of his office, the letter burning away slowly on his still half full dinner plate, his ire building as the parchment burnt away.
'Her heart will burn as do her intentions.
Their stranglehold on Minoc, and Vesper will crumble. The hypnosis they hold over the people of those lands will fade, as freedom is restored.
My intelligence is not insulted so easily as denial of a very obvious crime. You fail your own honor, you slaughter free men, and you ask me why I seek your destruction. Your savage, sick, disgusting kind will fall under our fist and flame. Your heart will burn in my hand.'
Each thought in his mind made for only a deeper seated anger, frustration over the past week in the way in which his life has been playing out.
She picked a very bad time. You can't be here to see this, now, Willow, but I know you'd be proud.
A sorrow-laden smile crossed his lips as his thoughts drifted back to Willow's eyes. When would he see her again? When would he look into her eyes once more? How long must they wait to be reunited |
