About a day had passed since Vaen rescued Rufus. Vaen allowed Rufus to rest in his home, aiding him in tending to his wounds and readying him to address the public on what matters he should. The Villa-style house was rather empty, and a calm red sun began to rise above the treetops. Rufus readied a pack, and was quite ready to make his journey home…though his wounds were still quite painful, and his aches became more intense with each step, Rufus slowly walked down the stairs, gathering parchments and stuffing them into his satchel. As he exited the building, a messenger stood near the door. Rufus gathered a parchment for him, and a few coins, handing them all to the young fellow. “Thank you Lord Regent…” whispered the young fellow as he bowed his head to Rufus. Rufus raised his head to him, and gave a serious face, “Rufus will be quite alright.” He then patted the boy on his shoulder and sent him on his way…
The Decree handed to the fellow reads as such:
To The Loyalists and Citizens of Britannia,
In past weeks I have seen much pain. Though I cannot announce that these pains and hardships can excuse my absences. While not being about you all, I have pondered much on your well-being, but alas I was without strength to send a parchment, or able to gather the will to manifest a form of communication. Horrid times and wounds have came about my being, but still I know that I owe you all this parchment. While I know that the loyalists and peoples associated with that which is good in Britannia are forgiving, I cannot allow them to follow an absent leader. Weather my sabbatical be of my own choice or through hardship and unconventional incidents, I do owe you all an apology. So I must announce, that with much pondering in the time I have nay been with you all…I do consider the idea of the Resignation of my Position of Lord Governor Regent of Britannia. With your own Ideals in place, such a though will be pondered much deeper after the regular Regency assembly…
It pains me to ponder such things…but I owe you all a grander act. One that I am unsure I can provide. I trust that my apology can be considered, as well as my thought. My situations should be explained in full at another time…but again, I am sorry oh fair people of Britannia.
Yours in Service,
