The Republic was served night and day with food and drink by the scribes that worked in the library. Long periods of time would surpass with just silence...Someone even just whisper it would make the entire members in the room jump! Jeren's hand cramped from the multiple parchments he had wrote or wasted ink coming up with the right words to ensure everyone received what would soon be known as the stamp of Jhelom on Sosaria. Judging at the amount of meals served he knew the Council had been locked down finalizing everything for nearly two and half days. Jeren realized the dedication of this founding Republic Council at that moment.

What was further impressive is the little debate and annoyance that existed...Jeren's smile grew at the collaborative efforts by all...well, maybe he spoke to soon....The room with almost a sudden burst exploded with the talk of forming an elite group of mercenaries. One Governor would claim it to be the very reason and existence to this day of Jhelom...many would shamefully shake their heads against such an idea. The many had good points. Where would a Republic and allied city-state with the Offices of the Regent really stand if it was known the mercenaries were in their ranks? How would other organizations find the ability to trust if a group working under the Council existed? Though, after much debate Chief Magistrate Yendorin spoke on his side of the discussion.

"A question I pose to all that disagree with such talk of having an elite group of men...one in which I believe another all ready shared. Where would Jhelom be without the brave of this fine Republic? Those men assemble under no official banner. They have always sought the same as any Citizen of Jhelom, and at times when fear raged the ranks of men; they stood at the ready on our shores. We have a gift gentlemen...a gift that will give us an edge and curiousity perhaps, but if we play our cards wrong it could be our very demise...How easy would it be for future enemies to bring chaos to our ranks through payment or reward to a group of men that have always been formally ignored? I wish to motion for the mercenaries to act under the strict guidance from this Council, and final say will be granted only by the Chief Magistrate. Governors...Mayors...this is a tool in which we have to use if we must...one that could prevent war or dispute in any future endeavors that diplomacy cannot lend too us."

The Council remained quiet. Nearly five minutes passed before anyone spoke. "I second the motion..." One by one the nods across the room remained up and down.

Jeren feeling the burden of fifty-six hours stuck in a basement rushed at him as he finished his speech. Realize his own heavy eyes made him pay closer attention to his Council who seemed even worse off.

"Gentlemen, we have finalized the remaining laws, policy, military and diplomacy petitions. As a Council we have developed a registry that will further our records in a time of crisis. You have all done very well. Tomorrow as the sun lay in the middle of this sky we will complete this session of Council with the words that will define our recruitment and our celebrated, deserving anniversary festival that will usher in a new era for Jhelom. I thank you all for your dedication...For Glory, Majesty, and Unity!"

Jeren finished with a quote that speaks deeper than that of a monarchy, but that of ones self and ones loyalty to the greater good of man. The Council slowly left the room as Jeren stood and appreciated the very men that will lead this Republic.
