A rolled parchment with a crimson wax seal bearing proper markings arrives at the Spider Kiss Trading Company via a plain looking, human messenger boy. He has firm instructions from the writer to give the scroll only to a Drow matching the description of "The Boss".
-Boss-
As you ordered, I have gathered information on both Moonglow and Zento this night.
The new mayor has posted messages throughout the city warning of troubles with Drow and decreeing that anyone seen on the island wearing a hood or shroud will be questioned by the Moonglow Militia. I saw limited militia activity in the late hours of the night, but their general (“Sortok” I have heard others call him) is ever-vigilant. He personally held watch in the city and conducted patrols of the island most of the night and into the morning hours. I caution you that he may prove to be a most dangerous foe and we should consider neutralizing him first should we ever plan any direct operations against Verity Isle.
Additionally, it appears as though Moonglow is increasing its naval might. The southern end of the isle now boasts a new naval outpost with several warships anchored offshore. Also, a new treasury building is just north of the naval outpost. I will endeavor to discover if this is merely an administrative office or if the wealth of Moonglow is housed within. It may prove to be a prime target.
As for my findings concerning Zento I can only say that things appeared quiet for the most part, but you might be interested to know that I did see your recent “guest” at the Blue Lotus Tea House. Hikiko and a friend, whom she called “Ni” were discussing Hikiko’s recent ordeal. There was quite a bit of talk about a ninja named “Booth”. I assume from the conversation that he was a past lover. Information you can use against her or the Blue Lotus Clan, maybe? Perhaps you were already aware of this.....
I will continue to observe and report on both targets until you send for me or assign a new task.

The Boss was looking at a map on his desk with intense interest when the messenger arrived at his place of business. The old drow looked up at the boy with a disdainful glare. He was about to cast the boy out until he saw the mark on the message that he carried. The messenger boy wordlessly handed it to him, Alaundril quickly snatched the sealed letter and gave him a nod. "Thank you boy." He quickly opened the letter. The drow looked over the letter for a few moments, "Why are you still here? You can leave now." The drow looked at the boy expectantly, and he quickly left the building.
Alaundril took a few moments to read over the letter, every bit of information that Kinn had brought back proved at least somewhat useful. Of course, he knew some of these details already. The recent decree of Moonglow brought smile to his lips.
So quick to point finger's aren't they? Good thing we did some early scouting. Well done Drayden....
He still held the letter in his hands as he walked upstairs and out onto the balcony. On the grass outside he could see his newly found apprentice practicing what she had been told. Nessa had been training constantly since she came to him seeking refuge. She was progressing well. And soon she may even be fit for a mission.
I'm sure Matron Viaxus will have something to say about it, but this one is not like the other surface elves I have seen....
Alaundril shook his head and went back inside. He lit a candle and sat down at the stone table, pulling out a fresh piece of parchment and his writing instruments. There was much writing to do this evening. Dispatches and plans to put in motion.... |
