The visit to his family's cottage had been a lot different than he had expected.

He had gotten to see his sister and mother, which is was grateful for. But it was the time he and his father had spent together that made the biggest impact. He and his father had spent more time together than Vian could remember. Mostly his father helped him with furthering his knowledge in magic, but Vian also shared some of the information he had uncovered in his investigations. Zarlox had provided his son tempered insight and valuable advice. Vian always looked up to his father, but this was the first time he truly felt he got to know him as a man and not a character in the stories of his childhood.

Riding up to the barracks in Sanctus Vian couldn't help but grin, he was home.
