There is a saying that pertains well in life, and death,

Keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer..

That which people overlooked all the time. One always thought that keeping your enemy at a distance, thereby sheilded you from danger and harm. Yet what if while you happily assume they are safely away they are right behind you all along?

This was a principle that Nightshade had well observed, if you heard silence and did not know their where abouts you should be more worried than if they stood in front of you. At least then you have some defense, at least you can raise magic and sword against them...This was the common mistake of the Virtuous they always felt that if something was quiet and unheard of it had therefore weakened and perhaps just died. Some things just dont die..

Darkness waits, and plans, plots and grows, and only those of the darkness understand this principle fully. The best ally a virtuous could have against pure evil is that of pure evil. Light indeed forges agianst dark and is set to combat it but it lacks that one key factor in all it does.

Understanding...to understand your enemy to know their ways and ploys inside and out because their ways and ploys are your own.
What better way to combat a Lich but with a Lich...
***************************************************************************************************

It is just this that brought the student to the teacher and the teacher to the student. The faithful to the Loyal and before him they gave all. Ciara, a simple matter in the eyes of Darrien the Lich, had but to write a simple letter to one master of Necromancy Barl, the Lich Drow once a servant of Oblivion itself. It was upon this that they met, the Chaos of Ilshenar, the alter of fire. Here they assembled and spoke, ideas forming and plans made. The search would begin. The Drow Lich new well what mind he dealt with, what craftiness he worked beside and so he moved with same merit towards his goal.

He had prepared long.....this necromancer whose anger boiled beneath a calm, cold. and quite dead surface. Ciara's information invaluable, new ideas dawned that perhaps, perhaps were close to their mark, and the search would begin.. He would gather more of those that worked with him a dark council that thwarted the magics of Oblivion tired of the ficklness of a god, subscribing under a mantle of one power, one art, ability...Funny how this council grew beneath the noses of those it opposed, funny how this council was not part of a virtuous group but clung to the magics of old, the magic of death and the great and wondrous art that it was.

Shade herself had seen Barl traverse many times into the heart of Sanctus to speak unto the Virtuous King Talon, to speak his words of wisdom. To confer upon these fools a very all encompassing message. Understand, know thy enemy, be thy enemy. Then you shall defeat it.. Yet they were to virtuous to consider such dark thoughts, and so he was refuted and unheard. So they lost dear ones and loved ones unto the Lich Darrien, in their foolish blind faith.

One must ask oneself, for all that the Lich was, why did he not tamper with those of darkness. For he to knows..what they know.

Fools, not all of the dark, follow the fickle god Oblivion....Nightshade hissed, green eyes of poison gleaming angrily into the night.Yet if the Lightbringers wished to continue being prey, then who am I, Nightshade Willow Strathmore-ab'Arawn to stop them? Surely her laughter was a balm unto the night..

Now please, do not think her smug. Well she knew what was at stake, final obliteration and destruction. All of this, the council knew, what they deemed to do, was just as dangerous, just as deadly and certainly more precarious than a battle with the bravest virtuous knight...Arrogance was surely a flaw and a flaw this council could not afford.
