The attack was sudden and without warning, giving Hikiko no chance of escape though she did manage to scream. The dire wolf that had somehow gotten into the city proper tore at her arms as it lunged for her throat. Just as the terrified girl began to think she was living her last moments, the beast inexplicably disappeared.

Had it gone back to the underworld from which it had certainly come?

Kiko looked around. The only evidence of her attacker was her spilled blood that stained the grass. She heard the sound of running feet coming to her direction and was grateful when Ni'Xuin and the stranger came to her aid.

The wounds were healed by the unknown woman, the blood washed away by Ni'Xuin herself. Throughout it all, Hikiko sat staring forward, mumbling about the kami being displeased with her. Try as she might she could not convince herself that there was not a supernatural element at work here to warn her to be careful.
