Tay sat quietly in the Umbra Inn. The door to his room was locked, one small lantern lit the area. In his hand, he held a key. The key to the chest his father left him before his departure. Tay had yet to open it, unsure of what it consisted of. He could only hope it held answers to his past, to why the Lich Lord killed his mother, and whatever else he was unsure of. After a few minutes of staring the chest down, Tay approached it. He placed the key inside the lock and turned, the lid flipped open almost immediately.
A gentle glow luminated from inside the chest. Parchments crammed tightly and stacked right to the top. Miscellaneous items littered the top of the chest. Tays eyes didn't flinch, they took in every item that was visible. He began sorting through the parchments, trying his best no to disturb the neatly stacked rows. His eyes skimmed over every piece of parchment quickly, looking for only one name. To his surprise, there were tons and tons of names through out the pieces. There seemed to be information collected about a lot of powerful people in Sosaria.
Finally he found it; "Darrien Church". Tay held a massive booklet, barely held together by a leather strap, in his hands. He loosened the strap and began flicking through the pages. Nearly every detail of Darrien Church's life was in the booklet. There seemed to be a pile of information even after he became the Lich Lord. It appeared that Beowulf had been keeping track of Darrien for years, learning his enemy.
A wide grinned creeped across his lips. Tay ran his index finger along several lines of written text. The coordinates of the Lich Lords lair. The booklet explained the approximate location, and several important details about it. Apparently, from what Beowulf had gathered, the Lich Lord was at full strength when in his lair. Items of immense power laid all around the spire, along with protection spells.
"That must be why father never approached him there..." Tay spoke out quietly.
After hours of reading, he had put a decent dent in the booklet. There was more to learn about the Lich Lord, but he didn't care. Tay had the most important information he needed; where to find him, and how to do so. Whispers of Umbra citizens suggested that Lich Lord resided in the Umbran Inn, once in a while. Tay felt completely sure that he resided there this eve. Instead of burning the Inn to the ground, and wasting the towns money, he'd travel to the Lich Lords lair.
The phalectory must be there, or at least a clue to where it is. |
