Like the great mountains around them, Myrddin's stone keep rose boldly into the air. High winds and never ending snow pelted the walls, howling in protest agaisnt the immovable structure.
Like his keep, so stood the Wolf king. Recently crowned without a crown, he looked down upon the fields of snow and his eyes were met with validation.
Stonegate was growing, and so too were its Guardians.
Myrddin's travelled North and west. Though it required leave of the frozen tundra, Myrddin first acknowledged the Border Fortress of Willow Smythe, Stonegate's Enforcer. A strong and valuable defencive front agaisnt those enemies who would send troops into the mountains. He nodded to it respectfully as he examined it's structure. Ghosts of the battles to come ran through his mind's eye, playing out the scenes of conflict that were surely inevitable.
The Wolf King's next stop returned him to the snow, south and east. Though it was smaller, here stood Stonegate's first official outpost. A middle point in their territories that served as both guard tower and supply station. Within it's walls Alexis worked to keep the Guardians a step ahead. She was a strong representation of her lineage.
Further east still brought a glimpse of what he might consider perhaps one of the greatest symbols of StoneGate's success to come. The Meadhall. This building would serve as a gathering point for any and all of those individuals who would enter the mountains from the outside world. Within it's walls were great hearths and great tables. Upon it's roof was a great stadium, an arena. Already amonst themselves had the guardians started to spill blood upon its floors. This would be a culmination unseen anywhere else.
Just a few steps more and Myrddin was upon the stairway of the great mage tower. Malakhia was the obvious creator here, the warmth within flooding out agasint the cold. When the wind wasn't gusting he could hear the sounds of the lava font within echoing off the walls. The power within this great structure was truly apparent.
North of the meadhall, against the mountain walls, was the barracks. The most recent structure to be completed would house both soldier and honored guest alike. The speed in which it was constructed was remarkably efficient. Myrddin suspected that within the months to come, it's inhabbitants would be great in number.
Circling back toward his stone keep, Myrddin stopped and looked upon perhaps one of the oddest but most useful buildings within the valleys. White marble seemlessly melded with the snow, housing within the guardians' recently aquired blacksmith. He was a native to the region and had proved to be of great help in the massive amounts of contruction. There was no doubt that the forges would burn late into the night.
Finally, as he completed his circuit of the territory, the eighth structure of Stonegate came into view. This building that served as the kingdom's new prison, also served as the home of Merci d'Rue and Keldril Kil'ana. Fitting, Myrddin thought to himself. In truth, it was unknown how often such a building would be used in their new kingdom...but unforseen circumstances always justified the existance of a prison.

The keep welcomed back its king as he sat upon its throne. At this hour of the night, all of the benches before him were empty, but the Guardians of Stonegate were growing. He smirked.
How long will the mountains hold us? _________________ "You see I can not be forsaken, because I'm not the only one. We walk amongst you, beating, r#ping, must we hide from everyone?" - Jon Davis |
