It is a folded single sheet of parchment and bears no signet or official marking. The writing does not appear to be in the same handwriting as is normal of Ariana's correspondence. It has no signature and messenger, if questioned, will simply say the message was dropped at the courier office in Britain to be delivered with no return postage paid, nor return address given at time of the payment for delivery.


I regret to inform you that the Lady Lenoir is unable to accompany you tonight to the Protectorate meeting as per your previous arrangement.
She is unwell and is currently indisposed. She wishes to extend her most sincere apology for any inconvenience this may cause.
