A teenage boy strolls along the streets of Moonglow. His right hand is squeezed tightly around an envelope, his left hand squeezed tightly around the reigns of a pack horse. Sweat smothered his face, both eyes darting back and forth quickly.

He could see the building in the distance, the Moonglow Headquarters. The teenager made his approach carefully, his eyes still scanning the surrounding area. Soldiers and citizens, all wearing blue, surrounded the building. He had an idea what the Mayor looked like and picked him out with ease. He approached the Mayor, placing the parchment in his hand, and passing the reigns of the pack horse over.

The teenager let out a heavy sigh of relief. Without speaking a word he sat down on the steps of the Headquarters. His mission had been successful.

The parchment reads:

Dear, Cal Hurst

Mayor? Haha! *Several lines are accented under the four letters*

I bet you never expected, in your wildest dreams, that you'd become Mayor of Moonglow! I sure know I didn't. Much, so much, has changed in the last several years, my old friend. How've you been?

It is a shame that neither of us have found the time to contact one another. I'm sure you have your reasons, as do I. I suppose I could give you a summary of my time since I left Britain.

After I sold my half of the business to you, I picked up and moved out to Vesper. You obviously know that part! After moving out to Vesper I found myself a cosy little home along the river front. Got it at an excellent price too! The previous owner was murdered by his wife, apparently that made it difficult to sell, many thought it may be haunted. Any ways, I quickly got to work on investing my gold.

I started with the healer's shop in town. I donated two million gold pieces to their funding. I also agreed to pay for their teaching resources. This allowed them to train several more healers. In return, they agreed to do any healing treatments I needed, free of cost.

Shortly after that, I hired a handful of Miners and Lumberjacks to work in the surrounding area. I started off small, offering slightly higher pay than other business's and selling the resources at lower costs. You remember that whole, Dark Empire deal that happened under the Fellucan Moon? Well, alot of the tradesmen fled to Minoc and Vesper under the Trammel Moon. There was a sudden "Boom" in the market.

I began offering my health treatments as a perk to my employees. This inevitably caused a massive increase in my (at the time) small business. My personal business had increased ten fold. I had Miners, Lumberjacks, Jewlers, and Fishers all working for me. I expanded my health care along to the workers and their families.

I bought several ships and began a trading company on the side. I've been mass producing resources to other personal business's amongst the Cities. I keep my name relatively quiet, and let my employees do most of my work. This, is actually a big reason as to why I've decided to contact you.

I'd like to make you a proposition. I'm willing to help financially support Moonglow and it's soldiers in your current war. Yes, word has travelled quickly. It's no secret, as -from what I've heard- you don't want it to be. Sending your troops to war, plus continuing to up hold your defenses, will soon become a heavy financial burden. Let me help you, Cal.

In exchange, I ask only for a few men to help guard some of my ships in some of their trips. I've recently lost my entire fleet, to pirates and sea serpents. I don't want to hire scummy mercenaries. I'd rather trained soldiers. What better than those of my childhood best friend? I'd rest easier knowing that I have trustworthy soldiers guarding my fleets.

I plan to get out of this business soon, slow down again and perhaps open up something small. If things go well, I'd like to take up residence on Verity Island. It'd be nice if we could meet up soon. Discuss this all in person?

It's been far too long. Plus, I'd feel horrible if you went and got yourself killed in battle without seeing you again. Ha.

Contact me as soon as you can.

Sincerely,
Your life long -and hopefully not forgotten- friend,
Dale Bracken

P.s. Along with my messenger, I've sent a chest full of riches. Perhaps you could invest it into something that all of your soldiers would find useful.

Dale Bracken,

You son of a wench. Where the hell have you been? We have a LOT to catch up on, but I believe it should be all done in person. As for the soldiers you requested, I can lend you one soldier that is worth five times his number. Sarian. You'll find he can fend off two boats full of pirates by himself.

Come stop by Moonglow. I should introduce you to my new friends.

Cal Hurst
Mayor of Moonglow (<--- Haha, funny, isn't it?)
