Signing the invitations to the leaders of the realm had caused a cramping in Sarah’s hand. Pressing on she finishes up the last few remaining ones and reflects back over the gilded scrolls. The Royal Ball to introduce Naji to them realm on the 26th will also mark the end of his days by his mother's side.

She had started with the invitations to the friends of her husband, Isk and Mark..both of Humanis, then ended up extending an invitation to all of the followers of such dribble. The only brightness within that group was Angelique, she had become like a sister to Sarah through all their shared troubles and concerns. Sarah never could understand her husband‘s ability to love her yet remain friends with ones that despise her for the simple fact that she was born an elf. It is as if she had the power to control such a fate. Order of the Praetorian Guard had harbored Rufus when he was sick and taught him so much, molding him into the person he is now. All of those long standing friends were invited as well as welcomed.

Then there were the friends they both have in the Regency, each member being special in a unique way. Rufus was saddened by the news of Martin and his wife Lady Molly leaving his side. His compassion showed with his reaction to the news. It was one of surprise but with no bitterness over their power struggle with him. Looking over the scrolls addressed to each Loyalist she smiles at the reading of their names. Such faithfulness is a testimony to her husband’s strength of character. Rajm, their son, will be a powerful leader if he takes after his father.

Wiping the ink from her middle finger she looks over the other scrolls, the ones to the other leaders. Some that frighten her at the thought of them being so close to the royal household yet they too have to acknowledge Najm’s rightful place in society. The Elves of Asur, The Dark Order, The Dark Awakening, The Church of the Void….Sarah shivers at the thought as her mind continues down the list. “Perhaps Nujel’m will be snubbed like so many other times and the evening will be spared,” sighs a worrisome Queen. “The quicker I can send Naji away the better. Thank the Goddess that Nujel’m has found a protector and benefactor. I rest easier knowing Raji is safe for now.”

Other scrolls of lesser quality lay in baskets beside her desk, signed and ready to be given out to merchants, artisans, lesser nobles and generals of armies. Satisfied and relieved she leaves her office to find the necessary couriers then her reward for the day. Time with Raji.
