Xandria had gone to the tavern, soley to observe. Her days of caring for such trivialities had passed. She was getting older, and no matter how much she denied it, she knew those years were affecting her outlook on life. Her body still retained its youthfulness, but it no longer seemed to please her. Things she used to adore, adorning herself with the latest fashion, now seemed more of a chore than anything. She stood outside the tavern and looked up at the walls, almost willing them to go away.
Greetings.
It was him; she knew it. She gave a small smile and murmered quietly to herself. "Hello." She walked forward, speaking low of how she hated the tavern and looked about.
Kill them! Kill them all!
She was taken aback slightly, and looked around, but none had heard. She walked towards the basement, trying to understand why such thoughts would run through his head. She stopped, seeing a young man standing in the center of the room, and another man auctioning him off. Her eyes however, grew bored of him and narrowed in on the one she wanted. A small smile grew as she stared at the figure before her. His aristocratic posture, his beautiful eyes, and a mouth that was slightly turned up in a smile, as though it were amused by the lesser class. She started forward, sliding past the compacted bodies and sat nearby, trying to act nonchalant within his presence.
Hello.
Xandria's lips curled in pleasure. "Hello Adrian." He nodded to her, almost distracted. How utterly odd.
Get out of there.
She gave Adrian an odd look, but excused herself. She left the tavern, her heart mixed up in a foreign uncertainty. Why was he wanting her gone? She hadn't seen him in years, and yet, he wanted her to leave. She finally took a deep breath and walked in. The voice was silent as she made her way downstairs, this time getting closer to him. She watched as he exchanged pleasantries and tried half heartedly to play along, though she was shocked to hear of his family. Soon all had left but them. Their speach was stilted, as though neither were sure of the other. She gave him a small smile, full of love and left, knowing he wanted to fall back into his shadows again. As she was standing, a small voice in her head spoke again.
Kill them! Kill them all!
She looked over sharply, seeing Adrian wasn't even looking at her, but instead was smiling to some waiter. The voice wasn't him. She looked about, and none were looking towards her with malicious intent. She began to panic as she fled the tavern. If the voice wasn't his, where was it from? |
