“No mom, I haven’t killed anybody.”
Her eyes filled with tears and she nodded only once.
She knew he had lied, she could always tell.
With all of the turmoil in and around Sanctus, Sadira had come to make sure her son had not been hurt. He wished she hadn’t.
He could still see the love in her tear filled eyes, but gone were the joy and hope that she always had for “her little boy”. In their place was sadness and pain. His mother standing there choking back tears, trying to remain strong, broke his heart.
He knew she would always love him. But now, knowing what he had done, she would never look at him the same way again.
Her sweet and innocent little boy was gone. |

Vian had been tired and Sadira had convinced him after a full dinner to rest in his old bedroom. Her eyes near pleading, her heart felt light and heavy all in one. Vian agreed and slowly went up the stairs to his room, never looking back at his mother as he wished her good night, knowing the pain that was in her heart. She watched him, and sighed moving to finish up cleaning up the kitchen. Restless night haunted Sadira that evening, Zarlox still with Ronia at their other home, and her with Vian in Sanctus. She passed by his room several times the last she finally heard the silence she had been waiting for. She slowly opened the door, the soft light of the candles creeping into his room from the crack of the door, as a silent invader. She noted his sleeping form on his bed, as she slowly moved in, shading the fire of the candle as not to shine too much upon, for fear of waking him. Loving soft green eyes gazed upon her son, moving towards him, believing it to be cold, she with delicate care moved to cover him. The motion of the move, was a protective one, as if that is the only thing she was able to protect him from anymore, was the cold that may or may not have been threatening to chill him. The tears she fought so hard to keep at bay, trickled softly down her cheeks. Her little boy, his innocense, his sweet nature gone with one swift move of a sword. How at this minute she hated Sanctus, she hated Umbra, she hated all that dealt with or meant anything about war and weapons. They stoled her little boy. Just then the reflection of the fire that encompassed his body in its light...the world stood still. It was then she realized, truly realized the form sleeping on the bed was not her young sweet son...but the man she knew he would eventually become. How she dreaded this day, wishing he would have picked up a skillet than a sword. She leans down kissing his forehead, wet cheek touched against it as she whispers.
"You may be a man now, but you will always be my son. I love you."
One last gesture of protectiveness, the only gesture she had left and was able to do. She slowly slipped the amulet that Zarlox had made her, one to help ward off the living dead, places it gently about his neck. She softly caresses the check of her son, one instance, the sweet little boy she birthed and raised appeared in her eyes before being quickly over taken by the man that now laid in the bed. She stood back up and moved to leave the young man to tend to his dreams, hoping his dreams will be of happier things than what his future will hold, now he was becoming a warrior of Sanctus. _________________ "Nature gave man two ears but only one tongue.
