The courier stood before the house, looking uneasy. He had been paid handsomely by the odd little half-drow, but he was starting to question the wisdom of the visit to Umbra. He was especially uneasy, considering his guide to the home was a rather odd cat, with strange wings sprouting from its back. He shifted the weight of the large crate in his arm, and watched at the cat became distracted suddenly by a small bird and fly swiftly towards a small swallow, catching it midflight. Handy, he thought with a chuckle, and waited patiently with the crate and a small letter.

Dear Merri or Deme, probably Merri,

I am sending over this crate for Deme's recovery. Inside you'll find the usual stock of potions, healing, curing, refreshment found by common artists to help healing. Also, you'll find a few extra things. Please be aware, there are inscructions with each of the more unusual potions. Each have been tested and are safe. The most useful should be the white one with the precipitation. Rub it topically on the wound and surrounding area, and it will affectively numb the area. Please be aware the once the seal is broken on the bottle, it last only twelve hours. After that, please use another bottle. And do not hesitate to request more of anything needed. I shall have it at the ready to be sent if needed. Also, the liquor bottle, it is liquor, but be aware it is a very pure liquor, and it not for human consumption. Please use that when healing any wound, for it cleans better than soap and water or the less pure of the liquors.

A small scrawl was entered right after this small phrase.

Oh, I'm not saying don't use soap and water. Do, but use this too!

A small happy face follows this little scrawl.

    Yours in Darkness,
    Ciara De'Vir

PS, Deme can keep the kitty,Batcat, for comfort while she's healing. He's very cuddly and has the loudest purr of all cats. Also, he keeps the bird population down.

Merrique thanked the courier and relieved him of the crate he carried. She carefully read the enclosures and smiled slightly. Ciara was such a promising young woman, and showing such talent. Between the instructions of Kaelthir and the aid sent by Ciara, she felt confident that the elven girl's recovery would speed along as well as possible. Now all she needed was the cooperation of her patient. Hastily, she wrote out a note to Ciara and gave it to the uncertain looking fellow who waited quietly, and quite pale, in the foyer.

Ciara~
Your aid has arrived in perfect condition. At this time I have no questions, as your instructions were most concise. Thank you for helping, it is greatly appreciated by myself and no doubt the rest of our Umbran family.
Yours in darkness,
~Merrique

With the messenger dispatched, Merrique turned and looked at Batcat. The two regarded each other in a strange moment of silence, almost as if they were making some private deal which, if overheard, might have sounded something like: Stay out of my way and I'll stay out of yours... As Demetria lay sleeping, Merri decided to let the animal roam about on its own free will, and began lining up the various bottles and instructions as they would be most likely needed.
