My Sister in Darkness,

Many are the long years we have worked side by side, back to back, blade in hands. Sisters in darkness and in ice, I could not hoped for any relative to be any more similar to myself. I once considered you for a daughter-in-law, but that foul Nightshade put some curse upon my son. If only one could roll back the hands of time and fiddle with things. Oh well, I am digressing here. I shall treasure the years of darkness you spent at my side. Your powers would have been greatly put to use as my own kindred, though you are not that bad for a lycan.

Also, our lycan immigrants will not soon forget the assistance you helped provide to them during the Great Lycan Massacre in the Lost Lands. I hear that Merci is a popular name now among a few lycan little girls whose mothers escaped that blood bath.

There is much to be said that I could never properly express on paper or with speech. I will remember you fondly wherever you go, even if you choose not to follow Myrddin. The darkness of Umbra will always be home to our kind, society's outcasts.

Always,

Ceinwyn

P.S. If you see a lady of the snow, give her my regards.

P.P.S. If you see Darrien Church before I next do, give him my regards.

P.P.P.S Have a pizza on the Umbran tab.

Merci kneels picking up the letter the scent familiar and in its own way warming to her icy countenance. As ice melts so does her tears streaming down the face of this proud Umbran her heart lurching with emotion that she had shoved aside for years. For this moment reveling in the love of this letter she allows herself without punishment.

Sitting down at her desk she pens out a response.

Matriarch,

You beleived in me when others did not. You guided me thru thick and thin, even when you were gone from others eyes you were with me. There are things that bind people stronger than any blood, stronger than any relation. We have acheived this level. You know my sword fights for Umbra till my dying breath.

My love for you pushed me to give up the Matriarchy, my love for you and Umbra now sends me to bring our darkness to the rest of the realm. We have all worked hard building this land into the home for outcasts. Yet my mind speaks loudly insisting that there be more room that the outcasts of Sosaria rise up and bring new meaning to acceptance. Light and Dark forever dance their war endless. Yet we are eternal, we are the Chosen.

As you know, I have devoted myself to a life of battle, the path of the warrior. I seek to share this growing understanding with others, to teach that the Warrior is in our blood not in our fighting style. It guides our thoughts and even though many times the battlefield leads to an early end I pray my end will be in the glory and protection of Umbra and its beleifs.

Like twin beacons you and I shall rise together, what I strive for is the glory of our kind, all kinds, one kind. Your son has my undying loyalty. I have seen the leader in him grow and he is ready to take on the countenance. You new in your heart that he was meant to lead that Ceinwyn ab'Arawn had birthed greatness as she herself is.. The name ab'Arawn will be known thru many lands they will whisper it in their nightmares, in their subconcious mind.

I chose the Lycan path because my life was controlled by another conflicting with that of Umbra and so he bestowed that gift upon me, but I am ever greatful for the freedom that you and your son have given me. Now I repay that in blood, strength and loyalty. As I have ever said in our decades together, I am at your call. Though the foot travels from home the mind and heart belong to those you love. In this I can truly say after years of distancing myself that I love Umbra, that I love my sister in Darkness, My Matriarch. I am honored to have served you and to have been allowed to lead the people of Umbra. Umbra is my lover and it takes that place which none can.

I know there are Umbran's who feel we abandon them, but how can they feel thus, when I leave them in your hands. When I vow to fight by your side and keep the fealty I swore to you over a decade ago. Umbra is strong it has grown and will flourish it is well provided for but it is in this that I feel there is not enough of Umbra in this world. To many segregated easily casting aside those that do not fit and this falls on both sides of both good and evil. Umbra will now see fruition of the dream that has long been kept quiet, biting our tongues, staying our hands, we kept our peace when others warred. Now the time has come for our solitude to end....To take up the gauntlet again. For the challenge of Sosaria has been thrown..

Forever yours and Umbra's, My Matriarch,

Your friend, Your Sister,
Merci Anastasia d'Rue
Warlord of Deception..
