Vargus read through the letter, then penned a response to Beowulf.
Dear Beowulf,
It is good to hear that you have returned to Moonglow, my friend. I apologize that a formal welcoming ceremony couldn't have been set up as soon as you arrived. Sadly, Moonglow, along with many other cities within Brittania, are not in their best state at the moment. There are times when winged monsters will come flying into Moonglow to attack it's residents. And when these beasts come, they also seem to alter the minds of our citizens.
The militia and other volunteers have managed to fight off all of the attacks so far, though, and when the monsters are fought off, the citizens soon after tend to return to normal. Our people shall work hard to defeat our adversaries, and will overcome this threat in time, as we have countless times before. I advise that you keep your distance from the citizens during these attacks, for I would dislike to see either you or them put in harms way. If you would like to be further informed on the current events within Moonglow, then I would be happy to speak with you in person.
Semper Veritas,
Vargus Daelstrum
Vargus then folded the letter, and fitted it into and envelope. He gave the letter to his pigeon, and then sent it off to find Beowulf and deliver the letter. |

After reading over the letter, a single tear dropped from Beowulfs' eyes. He placed the letter on the table and made his way to the upper level of the temple. He sighed quietly and rubbed his index finger and thumb together, a small flame ignited between the two.
He lit four candles, for each of the lives he'd taken this day. |
