Beloved,

The cold damp of the forest air has too long reminded me of the warmth and softness of your embrace. How long has it been? Seasons pass and still I run. I know not the state of the oppressors, nor the conviction of the agents which once hounded me. I only know my longing, and, perhaps most acutely of all, my shame for leaving you.

I did not want you involved, nor do I expect you to forgive me. I have heard that the Regency has passed. Hopefully this means their agents have no need to harass me any longer. I do not know what has replaced it; I wish that my faith in the machinations of man was such that optimism replaced my lingering hesitancy. I will soon know, though.

I am returning.

If you wish me, I will be there for you. If you do not, I will not fault you; you have probably moved on. Send for me at the place we met. I will be there three days after the solstice. I will wait for you.
