After the Yew Council meeting, Sarah rides through the forest outside of Vesper zigzagging her steed through the trees. Feeling her inner self being free and enjoying the feeling of her powerful horse beneath as the wind whips her long hair back. Urging the steed to the riverbank she stops suddenly and jumps off. Patting her hands down the side of her companion she lets the horse drink as she goes off to find a shaded spot to recline.

Finding a tree close by with suitable grass underneath its lofty branches, Sarah lays down in its cool shade. Closing her lavender eyes she tries to block out the recent rumors, events and chaos that swirls around the realm. Having the cure was a blessing she will safe guard with her life if necessary but the cure involves an unknown. Trusting someone outside of the Empire was very foolhardy but she had no other choice. The meeting between them did not speak of trust either. Dark and alone, Sarah was unable to see who the stranger was. He remained hidden under his shroud as if he did not wish to be known, therefore Sarah kept her distance. But something about the tall, massive man was familiar. His scent and his voice rang of someone Sarah had met before. But who? She was not able to answer that question, a question that had kept her up the last few nights.

Whispers of the origin of the plague were spreading. Making it more dangerous for Raji to stay longer. The elves were being blamed not only for dealing with the cure but also being the creators of the plague. Such talk could send the Hu-mans into a mob type of reaction. Making no elf completely safe near them. Now new rumors of elven torture had reached her shores. Making her decision to open the borders of the Empire questionable. But the function of Royalty is to give the
assurance of security and power. Whether it is real or not..holding off the Ball much longer it will be more of a hindrance.

Stretching out and getting comfortable she readjusts her dress about her. Feeling the folded letter in her pocket she takes it out and she lays on her back. Lifting her hands so the letter is before her lavender eyes she scans over the handwriting. A tingle washes over her, the familiar penmanship makes her almost giddy with glee. Rufus’ new letter was filled with love and hope, sending her spirits soaring and giving her renewed strength. Quickly reading his passages again she clutches the letter to her breast and enjoys the feeling of completeness only Rufus can give to her.

Despair and fear melt away from her mind as she transfixes upon her memories of her husband, Rufus. His voice, scent, touch, the simple things she took for granted. He is the only man that could penetrate her shell and get inside her mind and soul. Now together they have formed the most perfect of sons. This is what I should be focusing on not rumors or lies but of my love ones and the empiric family.

With renewed energy she gets up and dusts herself of leaves and grass. Kissing the letter and carefully folding it before slipping into her deep pocket she whistles for her steed. Nuzzling his nose against her body as she lovingly coos tender appreciation for his faithful service. With two powerful strides she pulls herself up onto his high back like a graceful nymph and digs her heels into his flanks. “Onto Vesper then a boat ride to home….Nujel’m, I have things afoot!”
