The cool breeze whisked through the open-aired building as Dominatria sat at a table, sipping her wine. She could hear footsteps outside, and as they drew closer a young man peered into the dark room. "M'lady, you called?"
"Aye... come in. Have a seat."
The messenger boy hesitated a moment, unused to her hospitality. He was an elf, indentured servant to the Humanis, and little respect was shown to him usually. But tonight she needed his full confidence. No risks were to be taken.
"Would you like a glass of wine?" Dominatria offered, holding up the Yewish bottle.
The boy nodded. "Yes ma'am, thank you."
She poured him a small portion and slid the glass across the table. "I'm sure you've heard of the recent split in the Regency"
He nodded once more, taking a very small sip of his wine.
She nodded in like and handed him a small letter, sealed in black wax and lacking an insignia.
He eyed the letter, and wondered aloud, "Black, m'lady? I thought the Hand used crimson..."
Ignoring his question, she gazed out over the ocean and delicately sipped her wine. After a sufficient pause she spoke, "And that is why I called you here. You are not to be delivering this letter on behalf of Humanis..." trailing off, she reached for a pouch resting under her chair and handed it to him. "I want you to wear these clothes. No one is to know from where this letter came, say no more than absolutely necassary. There is a satchel of gold in the pouch. Use it for food and board at an Inn in Skara Brae. We will retrieve you." She scanned his face for any sort of treachery. Seeing none she stood and took both glasses with her.
The young elf looked to his glass longingly, but took the gesture as his time to leave.
Dominatria turned her attention back to the ocean, and couldn't help but smile.
