12 years is inspiration enough..

In the back of a cave, opened up to the world
not alone but affraid, in the cave you sat curled.
A cave more a cage, and a house the unknown
In darkness was safety, and safety was home.

Your sister, she left, but what would she do?
My sister, so swift, to your sister she flew.
Your eyes, opened wide, you just couldn't move.
So fateful, for us, that it left me and you.

So slowly I crawled, offering you my hand
So slowly with me, you came into this land.
So slowly you ventured, no longer alone
So slowly i followed, my heart quickly grown.

Six happy years later, and with me you play
You jump and you bat, and you purr in your way.
I can't help but smile, such joy in your spring.
I laugh and you meow, its like you could sing.

Every night, at the foot, of my bed do you lie
Every day, when I wake, I see your bright eyes.
Your face, so alive, does headbut into mine
For food, for attention, in my ear do you cry.

So swiftly I crawled, offering you my hand
So swiftly with me, we made this our land.
So swiftly we ventured, no longer alone
So swiftly i followed, our hearts brightly shown.

In the back of a cave, closed off to the world
Not affraid but alone, on my bed I lay curled.
A cave more a room, my saddness unknown
In darkness I tremble, I wish you were home.

Oh why, couldn't I, couldn't I have saved you?
You're gone, and I'm crying, don't know what to do.
Forgive me, I love you, I love you so much
I wish, more than ever, to feel your soft touch.

So slowly I crawled, offering you my hand
So slowly with me, you came into this land.
So slowly you ventured, no longer alone
So slowly i followed, my heart quickly grown.

Rest in Peace, Mitkit

It is a shame the glorious Mitkit has passed on. I remember hearing many a fine tale about this cat among cats. She was a regular Gumby Cat (google Cats the musical).

This poem is very beautifully written and worded, as only your wonderful eloquence can do. A lovely tribute to an inspiring feline. I've thought about Mitkit over the years, from recalling her chair habits to her fondness for your room, out of all the other rooms in your house.

She has achieved immortality beyond her given nine lives.

That was a very moving poem, and a true tribute. I'm truly for your loss.

I'm sorry for your loss my firend. It's hard to lose someone close to you, and even harder when they were a friend. Keep your chin high and remember, you have alot more around you, and here for you.
