The Umbran Desert
The air and space around a very small patch of desert begins to distort and warp slightly as a figure manifests amid a forming almost fluid mass of entropic energy. A lean and slender figure standing at around 5'9 155 pounds bound from heat to toe in an assortment of form-fitting leather and plate armor, decorated with an ornate pattern of thorny vines twisting around the being's form. A long and elegant shadow-cloak of at least ten feet or so in length trails down the figure's back and over their left arm which is clasped reverently over it's chest.
A face of pale and flawless skin as well unnatural sculpted perfection crowned by short and well placed jet-black hair. The being's eyelids part to reveal two hauntingly pale green eyes gazing across the desert...
'Come out Kaelthir..."

The blue orbs of energy floating in Kaelthir's eye sockets condensed into brightly glowing pinpoints. It deeply unsettled her to feel that particular presence appear out of nowhere, so close to her lair. Their relics would certainly act as a beacon, pointing them out. It was too late to cloak their presence-- They had to be evacuated immediately. A woman in the room noticed Kaelthir's sudden displeasure and looked at her with concern.
"Tyralis, gather all of the artifacts immediately, especially the book, the bone, and the orb..." Kaelthir began, her voice trailing off into a hiss. The artifacts would have to be housed in a safe place, and her options were thin. The anarchist's house was already being used by Bailos. Despite already strong cloaking magics in place it would be too dangerous to use the location again. Zachary's lair was even worse of a choice, being nearly at the doorstep of Darrien's den. Not to mention how little she could trust the reckless child.
However... She did know where Darrien was right now.
"...And once you have them, take them to Zachary's lair immediately. Raise as many minions as you can to re-structure the lair into a fortress, and as they do that enchant several cloaking gems to hide the artifacts' presence, use the orb's power if need be. Make a hidden room somewhere inside to store them in and arrange the cloaking gems inside the room." Kaelthir continued, as Tyralis stood there uneasily awaiting the instructions. Swiftly, Kaelthir arose from her seat and went to a nearby chest, carefully sorting through it and placing various objects into a pouch.
"Darrien's presence appeared suddenly. I haven't felt it in years... But I am certain it is his. I will remain here, waiting for him. I will send the others to Felucca as I see them , and should I see Zachary I will send him as well." Kaelthir spoke as she gathered. "Be mindful of any presences you feel in the area. Should you believe the security of the structure to be compromised... As much as I hate to say it, but Zachary has a number of contacts and would be able to provide new secure locations."
Kaelthir glanced back at Tyralis, who was in the process of cautiously removing the orb from its stand.
"Should he suddenly appears and you need to leave anything behind, leave the orb. It gives off enough energy that it may captivate him. The most important ones are these two. Never let them leave your side, and always carry a cloaking gem or two to hide them." she said, placing a runed bone and an inscribed heavy verite ornament into a separate pouch.
She would not allow the bloodline to fade so easily. |
