Kale smiled at her handiwork. The bars of her father's prison cell glowed in the places she had touched for a few brief seconds before returning back to their normal metal state. A normal key would not open this cell. She took the cell key from the hook on the wall and began to trace its cool metal face. They came again, the special symbols, identical to the ones she'd drawn on the bars of the jail. She had never been taught them, she just knew them.
The walls of the Sepulcher were like that, also. She could see the special symbols her mother had put there. Each brick had its own marking. She thought the others might have trouble seeing them, because once she had even asked Haydn about them and her sister had only given her an odd look and a glance to the walls before shaking her head.
That didn't stop Kale, though. She liked to make the symbols. Sometimes they were nice pictures and sometimes they were sad. She put them on almost everything she touched. There was a symbol for everything, to make it better. Chances were, if there was an object within five feet of her that was free of marking, she just hadn't gotten her little hands on it, yet. _________________ Halister Marner, adminning the world.
