Dameon held the parchment to the light, reading it carefully. It was a list.

"And what am I supposed to do when I gather all these?" he asked.
The voice was barely above a whisper: By the time you complete the list, you will find out. I promise.
"And why?"
Consider it a present.
"For whom?"
Does it matter?

He rolled up the parchment and tucked it and the small vial that came with it away beneath his robes. I need a drink after this, he thought.

You have your father's liver.
"You know I don't like it when you're in my mind. By the way, where will you be going?"
Away. Consider me permanently a passive observer.
"Just watching? An eternity just watching? Seems like it would get pretty boring."
Mankind never bores. Besides, I have things to keep myself busy, now that I've finally mastered my training.
"You... you mean temp-"
Hush, you! Speak of my doings to no one. Things could get... ugly.
"If you wish. You realize we're done now, right? No more of this master-puppet crap?"
Yes, now that you're back on Sosaria, do what you will. What will that be, exactly? Do you have a profession in mind?
"I've been thinking about it, but I haven't decided."
Well, I won't be helping you out. I'm letting you make your own decisions on this one. Don't get caught up in the wrong crowd like I did.
"I think it's the ability to admit your mistakes that is finally setting you free, Aras. I've never seen anyone actually evolved beyond wraithdom."
I'm seeing the same end your father did... some call it "final death".
"Well, congratulations, I guess. So long, Aras."
I'm done with my existence as that beast. I shed myself of that life, that history... it will burden me no more. I leave this day... Excelsius.
"Right... have fun with that. I'll work on this list... I guess."

Dameon walked toward the gate, but then stopped and turned to the black figure. "Oh, and if you see my father... give him a message for me?" The figure nodded.

Dameon reared back, cleared his throat, and spat on the ground toward the figure. I'll send him your love. He chuckled, turned once again, and entered the world of Sosaria... his new home, again.

There was work to be done.
