|
A lot of people come to me concerning what they should do for builds, and how these builds will work. Strengths, weaknesses, so I'm going to post a lot of these here, so that others can get use out of what I've come across in my time in UO. Take it or leave it, modify it or use it entirely. These are just ideas for those who are looking for a new char to make.
This is not organized in any specific way. If you are looking for a certain skill in one of these templates, hit CONTRL + F and use the find feature to look for that skill in this post.
Here we go.
The Cleric
==========
----
Skills:
Chivalry
Healing
Anatomy
Weaponskill
Tactics
Focus
Parry
----
Stats:
Strength: High
Dexterity: Medium
Intelligence: Medium
----
Build Stats:
PvM Ability: Medium
PvP Ability: Medium
Build Difficulty: Low
Suit Reliability: Medium
----
Description:
Clerics are usually seen as battlefield medics, but they are much more in many of the games that you will play. Clerics are formidable warriors, with the ability to heal and revive fallen comrades. This template reflects that rather well, with two forms of healing, and two forms of being able to resurrect fallen comrades. In DnD, Clerics, like Paladins, look to a deity for their divine powers. This explains the use of chivalry.
==========
The Ranger
==========
----
Skills:
Archery
Tactics
Healing
Anatomy
Hiding
Stealth
Spellweaving
----
Stats:
Strength: High
Dexterity: High
Intelligence: Low
----
Build Stats:
PvM Ability: Medium
PvP Ability: Medium
Build Difficulty: Medium
Suit Reliability: Medium
----
Description:
Rangers are woodsmen and women. Archery is usually tied with the image of a ranger, as is some sort of magic having to do with nature. Spellweaving is the best option with that. That is always open to interpretation, though. This is a fairly easy build, and an all-around competant one.
==========
The Battle Bard
==========
----
Skills:
Musicianship
Peacemaking
Chivalry
Fencing
Tactics
Healing
Anatomy
----
Stats:
Strength: High
Dexterity: High
Intelligence: Low
----
Build Stats:
PvM Ability: High (With a party)
PvP Ability: Low
Build Difficulty: Medium
Suit Reliability: Low
----
Description:
This is pretty straightforward. An idea I had but never got around to doing that perhaps someone else wouldn't mind doing. It's a simple bard that enjoys his music, as well as swinging around a light weapon (thats why I chose fencing, but you can obviously do whatever you want). Peacemaking with a party while PvMing is an exceptional bonus.
==========
The Fallen Paladin / The Dark Knight
==========
----
Skills:
Swords
Tactics
Healing
Anatomy
Necromancy
Chivalry
Spirit Speak
--OR--
Swords
Tactics
Necromancy
Chivalry
Spirit Speak
Meditation
Focus
----
Stats:
Strength: High
Dexterity: Medium
Intelligence: High
----
Build Stats:
PvM Ability: Medium
PvP Ability: High
Build Difficulty: Low
Suit Reliability: High
----
Description:
Karma will be your biggest issue, but this has a lot of roleplay potential. The second build will be easier on your mana, but your healing will suffer. In the second build, you pretty much rely entirely on chivalry healing to keep yourself alive. Which, with 4/3 casting, is NOT hard by any means. The first requires a lot of mana regen on the suit. Both builds need 40LMC.
==========
The Devastating Archer
==========
----
Skills:
Archery
Tactics
Anatomy
Healing
Chivalry
Bushido
Meditation
----
Stats:
Strength: High
Dexterity: High
Intelligence: Low/Medium
----
Build Stats:
PvM Ability: VERY HIGH
PvP Ability: Medium
Build Difficulty: Medium
Suit Reliability: Medium
----
Description:
This was honestly the very best PvM template I ever had. Perfect for -any- PvM situation. Make sure your bow has good mana leech. Now against any PvM Boss, or mob, Enemy of One the hardest thing there, or the boss monster. Then, throw up divine fury. Keep consencrate weapon on. Then spam the hell out of lightning strike. Best thing abou this build is that you can forget about HCI, since lightning strike maxes that. Put damage increase on your jewelry, and make sure to get 40 LMC. A fast bow would be great, like a magical shortbow. You won't regret this build.
==========
Warlock
==========
----
Skills:
Magery
Evaluating Intelligence
Necromancy
Spirit Speak
Resist Spells
Wrestling
Meditation
----
Stats:
Strength: High
Dexterity: Low
Intelligence: High
----
Build Stats:
PvM Ability: Medium
PvP Ability: High
Build Difficulty: Medium
Suit Reliability: Medium
----
Description:
Standard "necromage" build, but with a more RPish name. A very large arsenal of spells to choose from. Make sure you have 40 LMC on your suit.
==========
Arcane Poisoner
==========
----
Skills:
Magery
Evaluating Intelligence
Resisting Spells
Meditation
Fencing
Poisoning
(Free skill, or master the above)
----
Stats:
Strength: High
Dexterity: Low
Intelligence: High
----
Build Stats:
PvM Ability: Medium
PvP Ability: High
Build Difficulty: Medium
Suit Reliability: Medium
----
Description:
Pretty straightforward. A mage who uses poison. Remember that the poison skill will also apply to any poison fields you lay down. So your poison field will deadly poison any critters that walk through it if they fail their resist check.
==========
Arcanamach
==========
----
Skills:
Weapon Skill
Bushido
Chivalry
Meditation
Spellweaving
Tactics
Parrying
----
Stats:
Strength: Medium/High
Dexterity: Medium/High
Intelligence: Medium/High
----
Build Stats:
PvM Ability: High
PvP Ability: High
Build Difficulty: High
Suit Reliability: High
----
Description:
This template combines both spell-play and melee fighting into one template. With a very wide array of spells to choose from, the Arcanamach finds himself well equipped to deal with any dangerous situation. Arcanamachs find that a unique blend of their abilities works extremely well against casting opponents.
(RP) The Verity Arcanamach was devised by Vaen Swiftar, a career warrior, who, inspired by the magics of Moonglow, sought to combine martial technique with arcane subtlety.

The necromantic monk seems interesting, but what makes it so effective in pvp? I would think that having wrestling as your primary weapon's skill would be a disadvantage. _________________ The fish trap exists because of the fish. Unfortunately that template is out of date.
The necromantic monk was based around using wrestling combined with ninjitsu for damage. Wrestling is the best line of defense for a caster, as you cannot be disarmed. Also, books take a LOT of weight off your suit.
At the time the template was effective, you could deathstrike someone for 40 damage in the middle of a combo. HIGHLY effective.
Unfortunately, with the way the game changes, templates change and become null. I have updated the list of templates.
Feel free to add your own! _________________

Battle Tamer
120 Taming
120 Lore
120 Vet
120 Chiv
120 Med
120 Archery
You become dependent on equipment but you do on all other templates. This template is my main char, and has been PvM and PvP. He has become Knight of Justice from klling reds that attack him. His bow of choice is one with High HLD, as it really opens target up for his pet. This template has some weak points, lack of tactics means no specials on the bow. Before the change, he carried heavy for dismount, and regular xbow for the concussion blow. Since then, i use one bow for all battles. Its a machine gun with High HLD. I have killed mages with no pets. _________________ "Always speak the Truth even if it leads to your death." - Lord Godfrey |

Added Verity Arcanamach.
Will be doing a lot of RP with this. It was taken from a DnD class, Suel Arcanamach (Thanks, Leshok!) _________________

It has the potential to be all right, but you're going to have an extremely weak defense. _________________
