Walter escorted his wife to the grand opening of the Cappodician's tavern. It had been too long since they had gone out simply for the sole purpose of relaxing and socializing. Life was that way. It took over and soon enough if one wasn't careful, the details would be running the show.

The night was interesting enough. Cat-fights breaking out here and there, drunken behavior that was certainly amusing, the usual tavern antics. The couple was graced by the presence of the Lord Magnate at their table and amiable conversation ensued.

However, a certain drow came to the table and insisted on doing its best to harass Merrique. It threatened, it ranted, it made disparaging comments to the party at the table. Merri did her best to ignore the diatribe though it was difficult, given that this drow had committed mass murder among the gypsy people of Ilshenar, and spouting its proclamation that it was glad Magincia lay ruined. Eventually several people close to Merrique, including her husband and the Warlord Willow took matters into their hands and ushered the ebony skinned devil away. All the while, Merrique kept her gaze averted and cursed the burning sensation in her cheeks.

Not long after the herding away of the offending presence, the first pain struck Merrique like an iron fist. She felt a band of pain envelop her middle and she panicked. It was too soon! Walter showed an immediate concern, as did the Lord Magnate. In a whisper she informed them that she thought it would be best if she went to Magincia immediately. Silently she cursed the drow, and then herself, for allowing the stress to induce an early labor.

Husband and wife stopped at their house to pick up a bag of soon to be needed items, and immediately traveled to the island. Merrique was hurried into the garden, a lovely and private setting that somehow seemed so apt for the arrival of new life here beside the sea. The Lord Magnate sent for one of his people, a girl by the name of Joanna, to help Merrique through the birth.

Time plowed forward, the hours of woman's-work grueling along. All present avoided the topic of the early delivery. Certainly, it was unclear just how early it was. It could have been a week or so, or as long as a month. Walter and Merri's private life was an affectionate place and certainly no accurate timeline could be made based on intimate relations. At this point nothing would change the outcome, no matter how joyous or grim.

Just before dawn, the kitten-like cries of the newborn filled the garden. The babe seemed strong and certainly not amused to be interrupted from his dark slumber. With an inward sigh, Merrique realized that yet again she had birthed a son that really looked like Walter in miniature. Joanna wrapped the baby and gave him over to his mother.

The gypsy held the baby close, nuzzling his small forehead with her nose, and she whispered. "Warwycke. It's so good to finally meet you."

After hours of pacing the sand outside of the Magincia Gardens, Joanna finally came out and informed Walter and Isk of the birth of Walter and Merri's second son, Warwycke. The excitement of holding his newest son was just like it was with Shalcross, a proud father of two strong boys. Shalcross was a son of Umbra, but this one Warwycke he was a son of Magincia, and the first birth on the island since the destruction. Surely this will mark a new era for Magincia.

After returning Warwycke to his mother, Walter headed back to Umbra to gather more things, and bring Shalcross to Magincia to see his mother and new little brother.

Shalcross came running to the door when he saw his father walk up the front path to the house.

"Dad! *Shal says with a big hug*"

"Shal, go gather your things we are going to Magincia to go see your new brother Warwycke."

Shal was silent for a moment while it all soaked in. Finally he smiled big, "Does this mean I get to be a big brother now?!"

Walter smiles and nods, "Yes Shal you get to be a big brother now. now go on and gather your things." Shal runs upstairs and starts throwing toys into his pack.

"And Shal," Walter shouts up the stairs. "Don't forget to bring some clean clothes."

"Oh, yeah almost forgot Dad!" Shal yells back and he grabs another bag and tosses in some clothes. A few minutes later Shal comes down lugging to bags one of toys and one of clothes.

"Lets get going Shal." With that they head off to Magincia.
