The child was a vampire. I knew this, yet I let her live. We had a pact, a blood pact. I vowed to let her live and protect her, to feed her, as long as she did not hunt the innocent. I tried to keep tabs on her, I felt as though she were the only one I've let near to my heart since the murder of my poor little Shane, and my beloved Malory. Destiny Ventrue, like a child of mine? I suppose that she was.

Secrets, there were secrets between us. I kept hers and she kept mine, my identity was the only secret that she had of mine. However, her secret was a bit deeper. A vampire she was, a child vampire... Her father turned her in a last ditch effort to save her life. To take her life to save it though was perverse. He stole her soul, to save her life and grant her immortality.

Tabs, I kept tabs on the child as much as I could. I wanted to be sure she was safe, and that she was holding true to our arrangement. Can she be trusted? I shook my head, trying to shake the thought from inside my head, however it made it sink down into my heart and from there to my gut. I knew when I had a gut feeling that something was not right. Just as I did the evening that I lost all that was dear to me.

Something was not right, I knew that I needed to get to the House Ventrue. You are a day late. Slid across my mind. I spurred my mount on, and I traveled with the wind. In the hour I arrived to my destination. I dismounted and hitched the charger to the iron fence outside the manor. Nightsight was a blessing of my elven heritage. It allowed me to see through the midnight as it would be high noon. As I neared the door, I heard a shrill scream that could only belong to a child. Without thought I drew the bokuto on my back and the short spear at my side, and proceeded to kick the front door in.

I stalked in through the entrance, and to my dismay I seen the remains of a little boy with a pageboy cut, laying to his left was a little girl's corpse that looked to be his kin. My heart ached, I knew I was too late for these children. When I looked up before me I saw Destiny on the neck of a third child. THUD The body fell when she recognized me. Before words could be exchanged I did what I knew had to be done. I threw the short spear towards her, it arched through the air and struck true into her chest.
In the next instant before a scream could leave her bloodstained lips, I was swiftly before he, and in one true stroke her head plopped beside the body of the drained, dead child.

THUD

Destiny's body fell onto its back. This will never happen again. No one is to be trusted.
