Jack stood in front of the mirror in the Den, a wet stone sat on the wash basin, small flakes of rust strewn about randomly. The shimmering blade moved smoothly over Jack's skin. It was the first time Jack had looked half presentable in ages, his hair was combed out and slicked back, his beard well kept and the rest of his face kept the pale tone of his skin.

"What're you all prettied up for Skelly?" Kane asked with a slightly perplexed gaze.

"Gotta look good ta' die, gotta look good ta' come back eh?"

-Some Time Later-

Standing outside of a small set of gates, Jack tossed the butt to the ground, stamping out the ember. Moving past the gates Jack slipped silently into the building, amongst the musty smells and lingering dust, past a lonely uninhabited spider's web he knelt.

The chest was reluctant at first, giving way after a slight tug at the lid. The contents were the same as they were every time he returned to his craft. A few potions, an assortment of knives, several set of picks and the most important item, his headband.

Slipping it silently over his brow, the only sound was the cloth binding in a knot, leaving two strands to snake down Jack's back. After collecting his items he was out the door as fast as he was in, the day seemed to have a different air. The atmosphere Jack couldn't feel, but others did, they'd told him it was there but he had dismissed it.

A maiden watched him pass, a small child approached him, freezing for a moment they stared at one another, the child was dirty, carrying a few apples, he also looked hungry. Lowering himself to eye level Jack took a piece of the fruit, setting a pouch of gold in it's place.

Standing, glancing around the streets as the child's jubilation faded with distance, Jack looked down to the list in hand, smiling as he looked over the contents.

Quote:

    Hops
    Barley
    Honey
    Rope
    Copper Wire
    Wormwood
    Sugar
    Cheesecake and Pizza

Still smiling Jack made his way for the merchant's corner, the smile grew substantially as he neared it.
