Lazily, as I woke, I felt my side. The gash from the shruiken had healed as I slept. Such a foolish mortal. He was, obviously, not schooled in the ways of dispatching vampires. It made me laugh.

The man. Balour. I remembered him. Vaguely, just as I vaguely remember the night I killed his family. What am- monster I had been that night. I can only imagine what I looked like that night, covered in blood, smeared down my face, my neck, and arms. It wasn't just his family's blood, but several others as well.

I can't recall why I left him alive. Maybe it was the look on this face as I finished off his son. Or maybe it was simply, by that time, I was too full to consume anymore. It was my mistake.

He was a pest, a minor annoyance at most. He wasn't much of a threat. However, I can't help but feel guilt... Or what I think is guilt, for putting my kindred in this situation.

I won't loose sight of what I am as I deal with this pest, as many other vampires tend to do.

The knife made a dull echoing thud as Jack threw it into the bar.

*thud*

Jack gave lazily drifted to the bar's floor. Last night had been ponderous. A child, the Venture child. But even the grave contrast of the small child's presence was nothing compared to the scuffle..

*thud*

Cappadocians? Jack whispered aloud, recalling the incident.

*thud*

Hunter hunts vampire...vampire drinks here...hunter hunts here...

Making a mental note Jack took the hilt of the blade and placed it into his boot.

They sure were dressed nicely.. Jack noted to Kane, who simply nodded.
