|
My dear friends in Virtue,
Upon the eve of my election, and the birth of the Britannian Protectorate we each expressed a desire that the Governor-Regent once again become a servant of the people, as opposed to a cold, disconnected despot. That being said, after a long review of our Constitutions I would humbly wish to point out to you the following information:
I.
Currently, upon a Governor-Regent’s election there exists no term limit, that is the Governor-Regent may serve until his resignation or his death.
II.
I will, with your approval, in order to ensure that the power remains with the High-Parliament amend the constitution to state the following:
And so I propose the following amendment:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After six-months of active Governorship, the position of Governor-Regent will be deemed vacant, and a new election for the post must be held. There is no limit to the amount of terms any Governor-Regent may serve, the Governor-Regent, if they so wish it is automatically a candidate for re-election without the need for nominations.
This constitutional amendment may not be altered by the Governor-Regent alone, any changes to this specific amendment requires a vote of the entire Grand Parliament, no delegates excluded, and to pass requires a ¾ majority vote.
As always, the position of Governor-Regent may be held by Loyalists only, while allied delegates do have a vote in the election.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While this amendment greatly inhibits the position I hold, it is my continuing hope that the Britannian Protectorate remains a shining example of a Government firmly committed to the will of the people, I feel that this specific amendment will remove any threat of tyranny, despotism or false-kings.
I submit this in all humility and for the continuing prosperity of our realm,
May the Virtues sustain you,
His Majesty, Lord Adrien Garnier
Governor-Regent of Britannia
