Dinaxle'lin escorted Bae'vin from the city of Umbra to the town of Sanctus. Apparently the male enjoyed stirring up the discontent of the natives there, and this seemed like a pleasing enough idea to Bae'vin.
The pair sat at the table by the fire, engaging in light conversation. Bae'vin enjoyed Din's company, but was inwardly distressed by the fact that he remembered very little of the native tongue--thus forcing her into using her limited common skills.
Unfortunately for Din, the town was quiet and Hanse's even more-so. However, eventually a person wandered in. The man spoke strangely, even for someone whose language was that of the humans. His speech was peppered with phrases that sounded like "Eh", and "Hrm". If Bae'vin heard the man correctly, he was looking for someone named "Talon, King of Hrm".
The drow answered honestly, her astonishment at the strange speech doubtlessly evident on her face. She told the man she knew no "Talon, King of Hrm", to which he responded..."Ye be drinking hard, mate!".
With a scowl, Bae'vin looked at the pitcher of water that sat before her on the table, wondering what 'hard' meant, and also wondering if she had consumed something dangerous. Dinaxle'lin also looked at the pitcher from which Bae had been drinking, and proclaimed...
"Their water contains hard. I must look into this!" |
