“I shall be waiting….”, the beauty spoke with her soft lips gently grazing Azreals lobe.
The vision had played out repeatedly ever since. As stone was laid once more, one atop another, the presence of something incredibly seductive and powerful could be felt stronger.
The task was a challenge to be sure, the reconstruction of any ruin was sure to be a most unpleasant experience, not to mention costly, labor did not come cheap in such times when most knew not what would happen day after. The rise and fall of many mighty kingdoms had taken its toll upon the people, there was to be no question of it.
Azreal searched far and wide for a suitable assembly of men with the necessary skills whom wouldn’t ask to many questions. The search had turned up nothing leaving Azreal once more before the steps of the ruin no closer then he had been just several days before when he had first happened upon it.
As aggravation began to mount his hand was quick to the orb that had come to him, his hand slowly running across the orb like one would caress a lover. The activity had become so common Azreal no longer noticed that he was stroking the orb at all, it was now a subconscious act played out free of Azreal consciousness.
Azreals eyes slowly closed as he concentrated on the task before him, his hand stopped suddenly as his eyes opened once more. Azreals gaze shifted slowly to the crypts to the east of the ruin, he had found the answer, or had he?
Clenching his necromantic tomes and reagents he made his approach towards the crypts. Though Azreals study of the necromantic art had been progressing well he still had the grasp of a novice, regardless reanimation had been one of the first incantations he had learned.
There before Azreal laid the quiet resting place of hero’s and criminals long forgotten, his mind wandering a moment he wondered if there was anyone of any stature within that would be good conversation. Regaining his focus he arranged the necromantic reagents upon the ground, unraveling the tome of reanimation in his hands.
As the dark words of power began to fill the quiet resting place one reagent after another was consumed in a black fire that continued to burn until the pentagram was fully formed by the flames.
At first there was silence, Azreal wondered if the incantation was a success, his eyes moving to the image of the pentagram before him. The flames at first appeared common but quickly they came to flow from one point to another with increasing speed. Azreal marveled a moment at how beautiful it looked, this thought broken as the flames shot forwards with a great blast a nightmarish aura.
The flames, with great speed, moved down the long corridors below the earth of Yew seeking their hosts, one by one they struck bone and rotting flesh, the cries of the damned within erupting violently.
One by one the shells of men limped towards Azreal, some even clawing towards him having no limbs below their chest to support their movements. The smell was revolting, Azreals face contorted slightly at the stench but he quickly came accustomed to it. It was not the first time he had smelled death; this was to be sure indeed.
Azreal raised his cold lifeless hand extending a lone finger towards the ruin in the distance speaking the command.
The work went incredibly slow, it was quite obvious these rotting corpses were not suited well for the task. Though slow they were indeed their demises had proven a benefit as well for they needed no rest and could make up the time in the night.
Azreals lips slowly formed a grin as his hand stroked the orb, watching the ruin rise towards the heavens stone by stone.
It had taken sometime to complete the task but it was now finished, what would happen next Azreal could nay know. Having no further use for his makeshift crew of laborers he quickly dismissed them to roam the outlying region caring not where they went or did, all that mattered was the work was complete and he would waste no further time “tucking in” his pets.
Azreal slowly entered the ancient citadel orb in hand; as he made his way down the halls he could feel a presence in the very walls themselves. As he walked aimlessly about within the citadel his feet had led him to the very heart of the structure. By instinct or another force he moved slowly to a pedestal that lay just before him, resting the orb gently upon its surface.
The orb had fit perfectly in the pedestal and for now all Azreal could do is wait, wait to see the fruit of his labors.
As Azreal stood gazing deeply upon the orb two arms slowly wrapped around Azreals chest in embrace, normally this would surprise Azreal but their seemed to be a great calm within the chamber of the citadel.
As Azreal stood gazing upon the orb a sinister smirk began to form as two soft lips began to press against his neck kissing ever so gently. There could be no doubt; it was the beauty from before.
Just as Azreal was about to speak the beauty’s finger moved to his lips, her own in whisper letting a soft, “shhhh” escape. Azreal always enjoyed a good game, especially if the game involved a beautiful woman's touch upon his flesh.
As her hands explored Azreals body his eyes began to slowly close to savor the sensation of warmth, warmth was always delicious. Her lips began to move once more speaking words like honey in his ear, “and now for your reward…”
Azreal couldn’t quite understand all that was happening but one thing was for certain, it was well worth it… |
