Brianha had been in a happy daze for weeks now and still she didn’t feel quite right. It seemed like her limbs were weighed down with steel at times, and eating seemed to be a task that took more effort than it should. It concerned her enough that she decided to set out to see a healer. Preparing for her day she contemplated telling Vaen and decided she would just go “into town” so as to not worry him. Not caring much how she looked she tied her hair back with a ribbon and made her way to the stable for her horse.
The ride to town actually felt wonderful with the sun and wind in her face, but it took its toll on her she realized when she dismounted and walked into the healers house. Thankfully she saw no one else in there except the healer who was dusting his bookcase in the corner.
“Hello?” Brianha gently asked
The healer turned quickly and smiled seeing her.
“Ahhh Brianha… it has been some time since I have seen you, what can I do for you lass?”
Brianha sat down in the chair across from his desk and explained how she had been feeling. As she was talking he just nodded and listened. Finally when she finished he smiled.
“Well I have my suspicions, but let me have a look at you to confirm what is ailing you.”
He moved her to one of the beds and began his examination of her. Silent as he was pressing on and only nodding to himself she was beginning to get impatient. Before she could say anything however he came over to her and stood near her head asking her to sit up as he was finished.
“It was as I thought. You will be sick for some time” He only grinned at her waiting for her to catch on. She did as she also had had the thought even if it was a fleeting one. Her eyes opened wide and she nodded. With her past experience in the matter her fears replaced the joy and she stood and calmly brushed a wrinkle out of her skirt. Looking back at the healer she smiled as best she could and thanked him. He looked at her with sympathy knowing her past and put a hand on her shoulder
“Do not let the past haunt the joy of today. Come see me weekly so that I can keep a close eye on you both, You will be just fine”
Knowing he was right but still in shock she smiled a little more warmly
“Aye I will do my best and I shall be back in a weeks time. Thank you old friend”
He smiled and waved her out
“Now go home and find comfort in your pillows. You need rest”
Leaving and mounting up she felt like she was in a different world and finally at some point in her journey home a genuine smile spread across her face. |
