”Pan”
I didn’t move. I lay still, not rousing from my coffin. The dark space of my little coffin was far too comfortable.
“Pandora.”
Still no movement. Whoever was, they could go away. I wanted to yell: let me rest, but my mouth opened and no words came.
“PANDORA.”
Finally, I pulled myself from the coffin, pushing the lid up with one hand, using the other to grasp the coffin’s edge. As I glanced around the room, I listened for the source of the voice. Nothing. This was odd, I had heard a voice. It was not the voice of Marius, this I knew, for not even he would have so rudely pulled me from my rest.
Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I pulled myself out of the dark wood coffin. It was such an elegant craft. It was made of rich heartwood, and polished, my name carved so tenderly into the lid. I traced my fingers around the small engraved roses. It had the faint scent of roses. What an elegant present that had been given to me upon my return home.
Raziel was at my feet. Lazily he opened an eye, looking up at me with that now familiar, “Feed Me.” Look. I simply shook my head. “Raziel..” he barked, and wagged his tail, watching me curiously.
“Alright.. We’ll get both of us some dinner.” I said, scratching him gently on the head. He growled playfully, wagging his tail happily, as I moved towards the door, the dog trotting happily at my side. |
