I was pondering how to classify it...my first thoughts were a regency, but upon examining the constitution and the powers of the council that does not apply...nor really does a parliamentary monarchy.
I was thinking perhaps a timocracy or something like a parliamentary krytocracy.
Anyway...just something I was curious about. Any help, terms or suggestions would be much welcomed.
It really is an odd mix of a republic, a monarchy and an oligarchy.

That is a tough one. Oligarchy came to mind, then I remembered you have a king. Then Monarchy doesn't work because you have a "senate" of sorts. And republic doesn't really work because of the above two factors.
Maybe self classify? Seems to be an adequate point to do so. I don't really see how it's possibly classifiable. It seems pretty pioneering as far as governments go. Or... Heh, you could just call it the USA.
Anyway...upon some reflection it reminds me somewhat of the late Roman Republic in many regards, minus the dual consuls. While I use the word "republic", Rome was a republic in name only really, in terms of the modern concept. It also reminds me slightly of the Athenian League of Greek Nations.
Since the BP is somewhat based on a senate ideal, I would go with a Republic. It's a government, that although it has a figure head, the people do have a say in the actions of the government. _________________ "Always speak the Truth even if it leads to your death." - Lord Godfrey
Going off of what I see and know about the protectorate, I wouldn't say it's a Republic. I'd call it a Democracy (and there's a pretty big difference.). _________________
Fairly certin this pretty much sums it up for me. _________________ It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds. - Samuel Adams

It is more like the UN. A council of representatives from many nations who operate in a sorta of representative republic, whose decisions may or may not be followed by those nations. What type of government would you classify the UN, more of a mediation type government.
Well the great difference from the U.N. is that we have loyalist and allied states, which are two very different things and have a very different dynamics to each.
And true, it has a "figure head" who seems a monarch, BUT he is elected and is not a supreme ruler, but rather acts as the guardian and mediator of the republican system.
So...I'm going to invent a name for it...
"A Parliamentary Union of Protectorate States and Allies" best sums it up I think.
