Rhiannon watched the sky, awestruck. The lightening wasn’t stopping…One bolt after the other, sometimes three, four, five at a time – streamed down to the blackrock detector. Pillars of fire were shooting from random spots around town. None of it could be explained…

A fusion of science and the arcane…that's what Fong had guessed. Rhiannon slipped off her gloves and set them on the table next to her. From here, her rooftop, she could see the whole town. What was going to happen? So many were predicting nothing but doom and destruction for Moonglow, were they right? She looked to the sky from which the lightening was originating, and allowed herself to cry. She sat down, collapsing her face into her hands. Her home…the only home she had ever known…

She had been crying softly into her hands for a few moments when she felt a kind hand on her shoulder. She looked up to see Fong. He sat next to her, wrapping his arm around her. She laid her head on his chest and he wiped away her tears, tenderly. They sat like this for a few minutes, until he brought a gentle hand to her chin and guided her lips to his. Their fears needed not to be spoken, for they understood each other’s feelings perfectly.

………………………………

Rhiannon, smiling a little now, stepped from the teleporter to the front porch. There, she reviewed the inventory of supplies she had stocked for the guild. Reagents, bandages, food, water, potions…preparation. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best…Isn’t that what Vaen had said?

After checking the supplies, she stepped off the porch into her front yard and smiled tenderly to Jackson - her beautiful, jet-black horse. She walked over to him and began petting his mane.

Let’s go into town, old friend, Rhi whispered to him and motioned for him to follow her.
