Stalking the forest, she resumed her habits of old. Gone was need that charged her to obey the moon’s cycle. Yet still she hunted. Her prey ,just as before, was barely aware of her presence. She watched her prey intently. Yes, gone was the need but the instincts and impulses remained.
Akela sat and watched the nocturnal doe. The animal cautiously lowered her head and feasted upon the lush underbrush. Akela’s ghostly essence paced as the doe began to quench its thirst. Her hands contracted with the need to strike. Akela had hunted animals like this since before she could remember. The kills exhilarated her. Her senses were acute. She convinced her self she was intoxicated by the animal’s musk.
As the deer stepped between two trees Akela raised her arms with her fingers spread. The trees next to the doe began to mimic Akela’s movement. She then let out a howl. The deer stiffened with fear, giving Akela enough time to pierce and impale the creature with the tree branch by swooping down her arms. The tree all but bowed it’s trunk obeying her will. She relinquished her hold on the two trees and the doe dropped. Akela advanced to admire her work. She knelt down and examined the fallen woodland creature. Her eyes blazed golden as she attempted to appease her life long impulse. Her jaw sank through the flesh as she tried to feed. She let out a growl of frustration. Many nights she had attempted to feast, always with the same outcome.

Perhaps that woman was right. Akela thought. Perhaps they both were.

The Vampire had shown an almost kindness to Akela, when she offered her allegiance. Quite an uncommon occurrence for clan such as she. Akela was offered a chance to become flesh and bone again. At first she declined and the woman merely suggested Akela to think it over.

Yes the Vampire was right. The Green haired kidnapper was right as well....I must help myself before I can help my son. A slow smile spread across Akela’s face. You have won the battle young Willow, but this war is far from over.

The girl lay upon the ground, no different from the way she was left. She was smaller now though. Her skin had turned gray, her eyes, though sunken in were open. Akela surveyed the color, pale yellow; Though it was not death that had drained the color away. Ironically it was life that made this girl’s once blazingly amber eyes turn a weak pastel. The woman’s color had runaway with the lover who ran away with her heart.
Akela knew full well that the eternally slumbering woman before her was beaten and broken before death was granted to her. She knew this because she was that woman. She had attempted to reunite herself with her body, but her former mortal shell couldn’t contain her essence. That capsule had no more will to live. She would have to wait for Aggie. Akela sighed and began her journey to the manor
Now that she was free from Umbra she frequented the Strathmore manor. Though too she still ventured back to Umbra to catch a far away glimpse of her son. As any parent would think, she felt her son was growing too rapidly. Even nature was working agaisnt Akela. The time with her son was drawing closer to the end. So many precious moments were being stolen from her. As she reached the Manor she thought

Aggie, please hurry, I fear time is slipping away and soon it will be too late.
