I’ve been coming here for days. This Cemetery in Cove has many names I remember. I see a few I’ve led in battle, even a few I’ve slain. All the names are worn and weathered, but still I know them from days past.

Only one stone I’ve had any true interest in visiting. Myra, my wife, my life…my everything.

I don’t blame you Myra. I don’t blame you for marrying Wallace O’Grady. He was a good man and a good friend.

And I see we had a son. Jared, you named after your father. I do hope he…

Hmm… I’m not alone.

Impressive… most impressive. I would not have noticed I was being followed if I didn’t hear the twig snapping behind me.

But where?

There, that bigger headstone, I can almost make out a shadow. This one was taught the arts of scouting. Perhaps I should have a little fun and cleave his head from his shoulders.

Slowly… slowly… NOW!

Damn, nothing here.

Sneaky bugger I’ll give him that much.

“I know you are here, you may as well come out! I will find you eventually! You may as well tell Jonathan I know he’s coming for me! But this time the outcome WILL be different!”

I don’t have time for these games. So much to do, so much to plan for. I’ll just have to keep a sharper mind and watch my steps.

“Come Vengeance, time to get some dinner, and perhaps get in some training with the local so-called Paladins.”

Burfoot had been following Gryhm for nearly two weeks. He was able to catch up to him, almost on accident, out at the crossroads near the Compassion dessert shrine. It seems Gryhm had stayed at a local tavern for the night and left the tavern keepers a hefty tip. It wasn’t until two days later they discovered it was the gold of another tavern guest, who’s severed head, was found out in the back.

Everyday Burfoot followed Gryhm to the graveyard, each day was the same Bur noticed. Gryhm would wander to each tombstone, place a hand on it, smile or laugh a bit at ones he may recognize and head to a certain set near the center.

Gryhm would stop at one in particular. The first two days Burfoot thought the man was… crying. One day after Gryhm had left; Bur wandered over to see the name.
It was Myra Greymalkin-Wallace…Gryhms wife.

Today Burfoot was crouched in his usual spot. The routine was still the same. At nearly noon Gryhm arrived and made his rounds and finally stopped at the grave of his wife. Gryhm no longer cries but is still in a somber mood.

Today, against Burfoots better judgement, he decided to get a closer look…

Slowly and quietly he made his way up, never moved in straight lines as to avoid possible detection. He stopped finally behind a stone nearly 3 meters high. A fairly large stone to be certain and an excellent hiding spot. He moved a bit to his left, and noticed that Gryhm was no longer there. Burfoot peeked around the stone and just caught a glimpse of Gryhm coming around the stone. He quickly scampered to the other side and up to the top of the stone with a speed that even amazed him.

“I know you are here, you may as well come out! I will find you eventually! You may as well tell Jonathan I know he’s coming for me! But this time the outcome WILL be different!” He heard Gryhm yell. Burfoot knew not to say anything. Even breathing hard would give away his position at this distance.

Gryhm looked around a few seconds “please don’t look up” Burfoot thought to himself, Gryhm finally made his way to the Graveyards exit and on to his mount.

“Come Vengeance, time to get some dinner, and perhaps get in some training with the local so-called Paladins.”

Burfoot wiped his brow, as he knew he got lucky this time around. After a few minutes of watching Gryhm head off into the distance and towards the township of Cove, Bur finally left his perch on top of the gravestone.

“That was closer then I needed, I have no idea what caught him on to me, I must be slipping” Burfoot muttered out loud.

“No Halfling, it wasn’t you, it was my fault” came a voice in the nothingness making Burfoot jump.

“I’m sorry Bur, I didn’t mean to startle you. But I had to see my brother for myself.” And removing the veil of the invisibility spell stood Greyskull.

“If you planned to see him to begin with old man, you shouldn’t have asked me to tail him like this. If he caught me, I don’t know if I would have been able to fight him. The man is built like a small brick house, even if he is as old as you are!”

“We are the same age Bur, and yes he is stronger than you. His imprisonment only slowed his aging down, and he’s getting his strength back. Slowly but surely, and soon he will be something to be reckoned with.”

“Why didn’t you do anything to stop him now when you had the chance” Burfoot asked in puzzlement.

“Because this place is a place of eternal rest and peace. And I’ll deal with Gryhm on my own time. Follow him, I wont get in your way again. If possible find out his plans, I know he’s thinking up something, and it’s only a matter of time before those plans come to fruition.”

With that the old man recalled away leaving Burfoot to ponder his next move, and wonder if the old man is as afraid of Gryhm as he was.
