|
Left at a table in "The Horn of the Unicorn" tavern after all had gone home, a letter sits, the enveloped mysteriously sealed with unstamped pine resin. Within one finds a letter that reads as follows:
Dear Elias,
To begin with, your efforts monday night were exceptional and well appreciated. Your hospitality was second to none, and for that you have my respect. So much so, that I must ask a favor. Elias, you should know that I am in the business of gathering information, and also that taverns are a prime location for such a commodity. With this in mind, I request that you may become an informant, to me and only me, of information that I request, as well as anything you might deem as significant. There is little danger in this position, as waiters do not generally make high priority targets on the bounty listings. If you find this a reasonable offer, then I will give specifics on what I want at a later date. For now, I only ask that you keep you ears sharp, and should something of interest pass through your tavern that you record it. You can reach me through letter drop under the mongbat dartboard, or if you have somewhere else you prefer, feel free to let me know.
You will be compensated for your efforts,

Elias finds the letter and finds a corner table to open it and read it. He penned a reply and concealed it under the mongbat dartboard.
"Sir Junpei,
I thank you for your friendly words. I always try to do my best. We don't get a lot of what might be called very important persons here, but sometimes I hear things that might be worth something. I will take you up on your offer. Just tell me what it is you are really looking for, or else stop back by and let's talk. Thinking about it, that would be better.
Sincerely,
Elias" |
