Isk laid in the comforts of his bed, his hangover leaving him unaware of the days he had spent drinking and smoking himself into a stupor. “What day is it?” he mumbled incoherently only to turn and glance upon Angelique’s back. As the Magnate considered awakening her he felt that now very familiar feeling in his stomach and turned in the bed to vomit. Fortunately there was a pale beside the bed. As the liquid bile spewed out from Isk’s mouth in near rhythmic streams he looked into the bucket and noticed the light blue tint to it. Utopia.
He vaguely started to remember taking Utopia on the dock back in Magincia. “What was I doing there?” Isk asked himself between his bows towards the bucket. As he took in a deep breath to flood his lungs with fresher air he lazily glanced towards something on the floor next to the bucket. It was a copy of the Humanis Voice, the newest issue. Reaching for it with a trembling hand while half his head was still over the bucket Isk noticed the ripped pages. He rolled the paper and scratched his back with it as he returned to lazily glance around the room. It did not take long to solve the mystery of the missing pages, he must have ripped them out and rolled the Utopia plant with them.
It was then that he figured he must have been at the dock seeing the shipment of the Voice. Ecstatic with the quality of this month’s work… “I must have celebrated heavily” he said as he laid back down. Resting one hand on his stomach Isk closed his eyes to sleep off his condition.

The new issue had just arrived to Magincia back from the Printer. As usual Walter sneaks out a copy before they hit the streets. The first thing he noticed was the change in tone. Isk had taken the jump to a much more serious stance on lesser races. Walter knew it was coming. With the change in world politics the climate was ripe for Humanis ideals. The cause was gaining momentum. Who knows it maybe soon when elf blood is spilled again for the cause.
Though he knew the changes were coming the worry still hit Walter. His blade maybe needed again for the cause and soon very soon new enemies will be made.
After finishing the issue he sets it on his desk. Before heading out for his training. _________________

"You may want to see this Matron," Orgollree'rean told Zararra as he handed her the latest edition of the Humanis Voice, "it would seem our old friend, Lord Isk, has been emboldened by his new position."
The anger on the matrons face was apparant halfway through the first page, "He will Die!" she hissed as she continued reading the paper. "Him and this new King shall soon feel Lloth's wrath. You would think the destuction of their precious City would have taught them to anger the deamons of the abyss." she screamed as she threw the paper across the room.
"Perhaps..", Orgollree'rean began, "we could use this to our advantage." He then instinctivly began to rub the spider shaped medallion that he wore around his neck. "Many of our surface kin live and even rule lands, who have sworn loyalty to this Protectorate. It may better serve our interest to convince them, that there is a conspiracy in motion, by Humanis, to eradicate all non-human races.
"The surface kin would never trust us, they would take the word of a vulgar human first," Zararra said while she thought over the potential of such a plan. "Use our human slave to post propaganda in the lands who claim loyalty to the protectorate, if he is questioned he can decieve them as to his affliations." |

The hour was late, and in this land she was roaming it would not be long before that hateful and hurtful orb would be rising. With that thought, Bae'vin leisurely strolled toward the moongate that would take her back to Umbra and its comforting shadowlands.
It was the sound of paper in the wind which caught her attention at the Verity stone circle, the glowing orb of the gate beckoning her to the darkness. The drow bent to pick up the papers and looked at the cover of the publication, the date recent.
She tucked it under her arm and went ahead to Umbra, then to a room at the Banshee that she was fond of. Stretching out, legs crossed, she began to read the words printed there. Her common language skill was moderate at best, and she had trouble with the many words.
However, she did not have trouble getting the general idea of what was being said. In particular she found the artwork amusing, as well as the little dissertation on the negative qualities of her race.
Bae'vin laughed in the darkness and tossed the missive aside. In her young mind, she found the Humanis Voice amusing as its art. She thought to herself that such attitudes would serve those without round ears well. |
