Dear Adrien Garnier,
You'll have to excuse my lack of formality in this letter. For it has come to my attention, several times, that you seem to lack respect towards me. During the entire formation of the Northland Republic you've done nothing but over look me, deal directly with my co-consul Vaen Swiftar, and have not shed an ounce of respect in my direction. I can live with this, as long as you can live with the saying "Do unto others, as you'd have them do unto you."
With this said, I can understand that I have not given you much of a reason to respect me. Vaen, I will admit, is the spokesman for the Republic. People fear him, people love him, and he has far more patience than myself. And with that said, I come to you with an offer that could perhaps benefit the respect level between you and I, and perhaps further relations.
Not too long ago, you mentioned building a grand library. One of the largest Sosaria has ever seen. I would like to work along side you and help build a foundation for this "Grand Library". For I, representing myself and the Republic, have an extremely large donation to make towards it.
I'd appreciate a response, as soon as possible. Perhaps we can deal with eachother like adults and quit over looking both of our respected positions in Sosaria.
Yours Truly,
Beowulf Thormear
Consul
Northland Republic |

Consul,
Firstly, I detect no lack of formally, simply a lack of etiqutte. When you, co-ruler of a foreign power address me, it will be as Governor-Regent, not so much because you owe myself the respect, but because you owe the people I represent the respect. Too often people assume my title glorifies me, it does not. My title reflects a sacred office to which I am entrusted. You do not disrespect me, you disrespect the Allies and Loyalists of the Britannian Protectorate.
That being said, you will forgive me. For ignoring you has not been my intent. But, every word you have uttered to me from your time in the Dark Order until now has been one of insult, where-as Consul Swiftar has not only explained his actions but has offered apologies. I will happily address any and all documents to both Consuls. I would also note that you were absent without any explanation during my official visit to your lands. How is it I am supposed to write with, converse with and work with a man simply does not come into physical sight when he should?
I would be willing to speak with, and work with you in hopes that all previous assumptions I have made about you are incorrect. You may come to the palace of Nujel'm at your convenience to discuss this with me.
By the Virtues I remain,
His Majesty, Lord Adrien Garnier
Governor-Regent of Britannia
Elected Lord of the Britannian Protectorate
Head of the Consensus of Light
Regional-Governor of Nujel'm |

Governor Regent,
If it makes you sleep easier at night, accusing me of insulting your allies and loyalists by not addressing you by your title, then that's fine with me. I hardly think that any of your Generals nor your loyalists or fellow Kings would lose sleep at night knowing that I addressed you by your first name, instead of Governor-Regent. I can understand how you'd feel that way though.
Although I owe no explanation as to why I was absent for the dinner that -I-, invited you to, and you so politely replied to someone other than me, I can give a breif one: One of my daughters was ill and had to be attended to. I knew my fellow Consul would do a splended job at entertaining you and showing you what I had planned.
I have in no way, insulted you since my leave from the Dark Order. I do however, feel insulted by you. So you will forgive me so my slight brisk bit of rudeness that I may show towards you. For you haven't even given me a chance, where most of your closest loyalists would more than likely vouch for me. I feel like to deliberately insult me, quietly try to provoke me, and seem to think that I'm nothing but an elderly fool. Hopefully I am wrong.
I would be willing to speak with, and work with you in hopes that all previous assumptions I have made about you are incorrect. You can expect a visit from me to your palace in Nujel'm.
Yours Truly,
Lord Beowulf Thormear,
Consul to Northland Republic,
Humble Guardian of Vesper, |
