Bae'vin walked through the Umbran streets in total silence, taking in the breathtaking beauty of the buildings. She found the city most pleasing to the eyes both literally and figuratively. The architecture was stunning, and there was no harsh sun to torment and blind her. As she strolled, her hand rested comfortably upon the pommel of the whip at her waist.
The whip was what she knew. Her very surname meant, 'People of the Whip'. Despite leaving her people for very pointed reasons, she still felt as if she were a Kilduis--if only in name.
Bae'vin had earlier overheard conversation that indicated this city was run on a matriarchal system, and that was something she was familiar enough with. Pausing on the western bridge to take a look down at the slice of void there, she decided she would approach the authority figure here.
It was her hope that drow were welcome here. Her resources were low, and she felt time was running out to find a suitable place to live out her days. |

|
Finding the city of Umbra quiet and with no apparent persons to observe or approach, Bae'vin found herself roaming farther west along the road by the bridge she'd earlier stopped at to see the glittering stars beneath.
In due time she found herself in a little area seemingly to call itself Sanctus. Again, there were none to converse with or observe. "Odd," she thought. "Maybe my timing is off". She followed the twists in the road past a brigand camp--nasty creatures, indeed. They emitted a smell not unlike those found in city zoos. Don't these people bathe?
Ultimately this road lead to a city called Luna. The buildings were too bright. Painfully so. The drow pulled her hood up over her head and as far down over her eyes as she could and still navigate along the paths with the ghostly ki-rin that was kind enough to come when she called.
Bae'vin found the people of this city rude, crass, and simply too loud. With a frown, she heeled her mount into a half circle and left the town as she came. Once again traversing the road between the two starkly different cities she was amazed at the lack of population.
"Yes, these lands will suit me just fine, I think..." she said as her and her mount crossed the western bridge back into Umbra and paused to see that bit of twinkling sky below. |
