Brittany wiped a few anxious tears from her eyes, and looked off her rooftop to the sea. After eating a healthy breakfast which she had prepared, Asher had left for the day and her heart was weighing heavy from worry. He and a friend were going to find Christoph today. She scowled at the thought of his name. Brutal, cruel Christoph. Last night she had finally told Asher the truth of her past. She had told him the things Christoph had made her do...to earn gold for him - how he had threatened to throw her out if she didn't do what he said. The idea of being on the streets alone and hungry had frightened her so badly that she had stayed with him. She had stayed far too long.

The end came when Christoph came home one evening looking for a punching bag. She was accustomed to playing the role, but that night he had been viscious. So, with broken bones and a bloody face she had gathered the strength to leave. She had left as soon as he passed out. She had jumped through a random gate someone had left open, then tumbled into the streets of Moonglow next to the bank. It was not long after that she had had the incredible fortune of meeting Miss Rhiannon - who took her under her wing immediately. Rhiannon had healed her wounds, given her a warm meal, and a place to stay. Brittany had never known someone to be so kind.

Over time and with the help of a few Moonglow citizens, Birttany had managed to scrounge up enough money for a tiny house on Verity Isle, and yesterday the most wonderful thing had happened...Asher had started moving in with her. Asher...kind, sweet, pure-hearted Asher. And he loved her! He loved her without condition and she loved him without fear. She often wondered if at any second she would wake up from this perfect dream.

This happy feeling faded when her thoughts returned to what Asher and his friend were doing this afternoon. Although this friend was one of the most well-known fighters around, she was still sick with worry over Asher. He was such a gentle soul...would he be okay? She wasn't sure what they planned to do to Chirstoph, but she didn't imagine it would be pleasant - or easy. She breathed in the morning air and went downstairs to the kitchen. She would try some new recipes today...using the oven Asher had given her. Yes. Cooking would take her mind off things for a little while.

"You sure you want to do this?" Vaen asked.

"Yeah... I... uhhh am sure." Asher said, trembling nervously.

"If you get hurt, I'm going to have a raging blond knocking down my door angrily, so you better be careful."

The two of them stood in front of a rather large house, north of the Britain graveyard in Felucca. From inside, you could hear the cheers of many men, and if you listened closely, the soft cries of young women.

Dressed in their hooded shrouds, Vaen and Asher knocked on the door.

"Remember, Asher, follow my lead."

Asher nodded.

A man opened the door. He appeared to be about 6'1, and 300 pounds. Definitely not in shape, and his breath was putrid enough to make a skunk run in fear. "Ey boys! You lookin' fer a good time? Baha! We gotcher girls righ' in 'ere!"

Asher couldn't help but stare at the man's many chins as he spoke. But quickly shaking out of it, he followed Vaen and the man into the room. Inside, his heart sank as he took in his surroundings. Many of Britain's scum were in here, with some young women who have obviously been abused. Some of the women were chained to tables. Others to chairs. And the ones that weren't chained, were busy dancing while silently sobbing to themselves.

"So what'll it be boys? Ya wan' some fun?"

"We're just looking for an old friend, sir. Ah, his name.. Christoph." Vaen said.

"Ah yes, he be in the back. Jus' go through tha' door o'er there. Take a righ', and ye'll be thar."

Vaen nodded politely at the man, and started walking in that direction. Asher followed behind, keeping his eyes to the floor, not looking at any of the women.

They came to a steel door, and inside they could hear the painful screams of a young woman, and the angry rantings of an older man.

They knocked on the door. Nodding to each other, Vaen and Asher waited. Then the door peeked open very slightly. "What do you guys want? I'm busy in here" said the man through the cracked door.

"You Christoph?" Vaen asked.

"Yeah, what's it to you?" Christoph replied.

Simultaneously, Vaen and Asher lifted their legs and kicked the door open -- hard. Christoph fell back to the floor, and then scrambled to his feet as Vaen drew his kryss, and Asher readied a spell.

"ey, ey, boys! Boys... let's talk about this. I'll give you this girl, if you just leave me be. Sure, she's a little fat," Asher glanced over to the girl, who was not fat at all. Remembering some of the things Brittany told him, he was now angered, and glanced to Christoph, "but she'll listen to you as long as you feed her!"

"You shut your mouth!" Asher yelled, slightly blushing, from behind Vaen, "Women are not to be treated like this! You... you are a monster! Women are temples of beauty to be worshiped like the goddesses that they are!"

Vaen glanced at Asher a moment, raising a brow. But Asher still glared angrily at the man.

"What's going on back here?!" yelled a man, followed by two pairs of foot steps. The three man positioned themselves behind Vaen and Asher, with Christoph in front of them.

"Pincer position. You know what to do, Ash."

Asher nodded. Vaen turned around and faced off against the three man, the threshold being his only defense as a choke point. Asher walked forward and glared angrily at Christoph. "This is for Brittany," he muttered to himself, as he prepared a spell.

***

Vaen held his kryss forward at the three different men. They laughed at him, as they all pulled out their maces and long swords. Vaen smirked slightly and then pointed at the one in the middle. "You die last."

The man in the middle laughed, and then patted his two friends on the shoulders, "This one thinks he's gonna beat us!" The two men laughed with the third, and then they all raised their weapons, readying for a fight.

***

"Vas Flam!" Asher yelled, as he propelled a fireball forward towards Christoph. Christoph jumped out of the way to his right, grabbing the girl and using her as a shield.

"Go on! Fire at me! You'll only be hurting her. Come on. I dare you. I DARE YOU!"

***

Vaen reached into his backpack and grabbed a purple bottle. He shook it and tossed it in the middle of the three men. They looked down at it, as it began to shake, and then explode. The explosion sent the three men back, each in a different direction.

Vaen jumped out of the threshold and ran towards the man who was on the right. Getting to him just as he was getting up, he thrusted his kryss into the man's shoulder downward, just barely piercing his heart at this angle. The man cried out once, and then was silenced, as he fell limp.

Vaen glanced at the other two who were now standing, smirking. He glanced to the one who was in the middle, and shook his head. "One down, one to go. And then, it's your turn."

***

Asher trembled slightly, looking at the young woman. She looked back with fearful, pleading eyes. Then, he heard an explosion behind him. He looked back and saw Vaen jump through the threshold.

As soon as he heard something hit the ground, he looked back forward only to be met with a punch to the face. Stumbling back slightly, he glared up at Christoph who has now reached for his short spear, pointing it at Asher. "Come on pretty boy, let's see what you got."

***

Vaen sheathed his kryss, and quickly removed his shroud. Reaching behind him to his back-sheath, he removed his double-bladed staff, gripping it at the middle with both hands.

He began twirling it, as the two man stood side by side, looking at him. They started backing up slightly, looking at each other, and nodding. They started to yell and charge Vaen. Sidestepping to his right, he spun and swung the bladed staff at the one on the left's midsection. The chain mail armor absorbed most of the blow, but he still buckled forward in pain.

The other man swung his mace at Vaen. Vaen quickly raised his double bladed staff to block the blow, and then used his strength to push the middle man back. Turning to face the one on the left again, Vaen quickly thrusted the staff towards the man's face.

***

Asher stepped close to the man, and they squared off, circling around the room, facing each other. Christoph thrusted his spear a few times, but Asher would dodge it easily. Then his thrusts became more desperate; more careless. As Christoph thrusted his spear again, Asher grabbed it, and then quickly tossed the spear aside, disarming Christoph.

"An Mani!" Asher yelled, as an overwhelming cold struck Christoph. He gasped, and stumbled backward. Christoph reached for his spear again.

"Ort Por Ylem!" Asher yelled. Just as Christoph reached for the spear, the spear took on a life of its own, sending itself deep into Christoph's chest. Asher walked over to him, placing his hand on the spear. Christoph gasping for air, in tremendous pain. Asher placed his other hand on Christoph's shoulder, and whispered to him, "For Brittany."

"Ort Por Ylem!" Asher yelled again, as the spear thrusted itself fully through Christoph, and out through the threshold of the room.

***

Just as Vaen thrusted his weapon to the man's face, the man brought his mace up to deflect the blow. Vaen stumbled back as the force from his swing was repelled, and then turned around to see the middle man behind him. Being surrounded now, in a pincer attack of his own, Vaen had to think fast.

He positioned himself to be sure that his back was to no one, and that they were both at his sides, though a good distance away. Vaen quickly glanced into the room where Asher was, and heard him yell something. Upon seeing the spell that was cast, Vaen instantly dropped to the floor.

A short spear propelled itself out from the room. It wisped through the air quickly, just grazing the middle man's shoulder. Flying over Vaen, the spear's journey ended abruptly as it parked itself in the other man's face. Looking up at the middle man, he smirked and quickly stood. "Your turn."

Vaen swing his staff at the man, but it was quickly deflected by his offhanded long sword. Vaen then swung the other end of the weapon at the man, but it, too, was deflected, only by the mace this time.

"Divinum Furis!" Vaen yelled, as a bit of light surrounded him. The man narrowed his eyes, and Vaen engaged him again. His attacks were quickened. One after the other, slowly wearing down the defenses of the middle man.

Vaen stepped back once, and smiled at the middle man. "Consecrus Arma!" he yelled, as his weapon now gave off a bit of a glow. Stepping forward and spinning for momentum, he swung his outreached blade at the man. Unable to react in time, the blade struck true, right through a weak point in the man's neck armor, completely beheading him.

***

Asher looked down at the girl, and said softly, "You are free now. Go." The girl scurried quickly out of the room, and Asher stood, looking down at the now immobile Christoph. He grinned slightly, and stepped out to meet with Vaen.

"You did well, Asher." Vaen nodded.

"Thanks..." Asher said.

"And I believe you have someone to go home to now. I'll clean up the rest of this mess."

Asher smiled and nodded to Vaen. "Thank you, Vaen."

Vaen nodded, sheathing his staff on his back-sheath again. He picked up his shroud and put it back on, pulling the hood up over him again. He smirked at Asher, and nodded. "Go to her."

Nodding, Asher smiled back. "Kal Ort Por!"

Asher found himself on Brittany's doorstep. The smell of fresh cookies filling the air made him smile wide, as his stomach grumbled. It was time to tell Brittany what had happened. What he and Vaen had done.
