Greetings Lord Thraxanduril of the Commonwealth,

I have done as you have asked, and attended the Protectorate meeting in Nujel'm. There was little said about the Commonwealth, save for that Governer-Regent Garnier promised loyalty to the false King of Yew, Sid.

After the meeting, I proceeded to attend to private council with the Governer-Regent. He was quick-witted and easily dismissive of my views, though there is honor that exists in him yet. Such are the ways of the nobles, however. I expressed to him that long have I been your friend, and he informed me that his thoughts of you are quite high, Lord Thraxanduril.

It is in these times I find it hard for what to pursue next. He would like a meeting between you and him, Lord Thraxanduril, and if you permit me such, I would like to attend. The Ranger of Yew will follow you to the very end, for your noble devotions to the Commonwealth.

Only ask, and I shall assist.

A reply is sent to Kazen via Thrax's raven courier.

"Friend Kazthen,

Greetings.

I wanted you to see and hear for yourself what I already know about the man from my experiences with him. It is always better to hope that attitudes such as stubbornness and arrogance are mere aberrations of a personality rather than dominant traits. Thus I sent you with that prayer in mind, but I did not fool myself. And now you have proved to us both that which I have believed all along.

I am also certain that another meeting with him would end as they all have, filled with rantings, threats, and illogical argumentation. I had just as soon talk to the orcs about theories of science; I would gain as much insight and find it much more entertaining.

I apologize to you that your time was not well spent, unless of course you are one of those ideologues (heaven forbid!) who find satisfaction in futile attempts at compromise with bull-headed nobles. If that is the case, I am sure you will find endless opportunities for such enjoyment whenever you talk to him.

You are a good elf and a fine Ranger, Kazthen. Yew is blessed to own you as a son, and I to be able to call you friend. We shall have dinner soon; a nice slab of fresh venison would suit us both well. I will send the invitation shortly. I pray for your health and admire your courage.

Remain blessed,

Thraxanduril"

Greetings Lord Thraxanduril of the Commonwealth,

I write asking when we shall share this dinner occasion. This ranger does hunger for fine meats, and friendly conversation of an old friend to discuss the current matters. We shall see Yew restored, my good friend, once more. I anxiously await your courteous reply.

"Noble Kazthen,

A fine young buck ventured slightly too close to the house today, and I was close enough to bring it down. It is now dressed and its tenderloin is being marinated already. Hence, if you could come tonight, you will savor it with me.

Come to Whitehall at the rising of the 8th star in the east and all shall be ready.

If you are unable, I will save some of it for another time.

Remain Blessed,
Thraxanduril"
