****
The white king has moved into a castle position after being put in check. He has secured himself behind his pawns, and alongside his rook. This defense could take a while to crack. But the black pieces were already devising a plan.

Minoc, Felucca, on this day, was particularly beautiful. The sun shined brightly down upon its soil, and the birds singing their songs as they flew from one place to another overhead. Everything was calm. Everything was finally coming into place.

There Vaen stood, in front of the statue of the first mayor of Minoc. He had sent criers across the towns of Vesper and Minoc to all who wished to hear his speech. And as time passed, the crowd began to grow. People from the south ends of Vesper traveled northward to hear the words of their supposed "freedom fighters." All of them worried that what they were once promised, was done so emptily. That everything they were told was a lie. And that this would just be another dark time.

But it wasn't the case. Vaen smiled to the gathered crowd, and began to speak.

Citizens of the Northland. I thank you for coming here today. My name, as a number of you already know, is Vaen Swiftar. With me here, at my right, is Beowulf Thormear. And here, at my left, is Mave Gerhart.

The crowd applauded politely.

We address you here today, not as your rulers. Not as your superiors. But as your friends, and as your equals. We wish to see the Northland return to its former full glory. Before the reign of the Armunn Empire. Before the previous Northern Militia blew up Minoc's mines out of spite of losing. Before any of that. We are here, to guide you into prosperity, and hold you high, and make you the powerful community you all deserve to be!

A few cheers in the crowd could be heard, and the applause grew louder.

You have all faced many challenges, and I assure you they have not been in vain. War has been waged in this part of the world for far too long. This, my friends, is your time of peace. This is when you will grow. No longer will you have to worry about opening your door, and seeing two men fight for their lives. No longer will you fall asleep to the chaotic sounds of bloodshed in the streets. And no longer will you, the citizens of this great land, suffer from the greed of those tyrants!

The crowd erupted in cheers and loud applause. After it calmed, Vaen spoke again.

I can assure each and every one of you, that we have finally secured this land. We are positive that no Armunn Empire personnel have slipped our grasp. This land is your's. It is not our's. It is your land! And each and every citizen of the Northland will have a say in what goes on here. That is how a government should be. And that is how the Northland Republic will operate!

The crowd applauded loudly, a few cheers roared out amongst the crowd. A couple skeptic faces scattered the about, as to be expected.

Our doors are always open to each and every one of you. If you have a problem, no matter how big or small, you can see any of us in person. Or, if you are the type of person who deals better with the pen, then you can write us. Our headquarters is north of the North Vesper bridge.

Praise be to the Northland!

Vaen raised both of his hands high in the air, as did Beowulf and Mave. The crowd then erupted once more in cheers and celebration, as off to the side a couple bards joined together in a celebratory song.

This was only the beginning.

As Mave watched the people during Vaen's speech, he knew he had made the right decision. Whether or not he could raise his blade against Tarothin if the time ever came, he knew not. They had been almost as brothers before, and even though he knew that the old friend he had was gone, he did not know how he would react should the time ever come...

As Mave raised his hands high alongside Vaen and Beowulf, he felt pride, knowing that his path would restore the Honor to his name once more. Walking through the crowd afterwards, Mave talked with the people, shook their hands and assured them of what was to be.

As he walked he sought out especially those he recognized as being from Vesper, intent on asking their forgiveness for the things he had done, but he never got the chance. Before he could speak the words, most gave it without being asked.

We knew you would come around, After they blew up them mines, we knew them for what they were, and We would have gotten your Lady back to you if we could were some of the commonly spoken phrases that day, causing Mave to smile and clasp them by the shoulders, swearing his help to them if they needed it.

After speaking with everyone he could, the hour grew late and Mave called Belegohtar from the sky. Leaping up to the dragons's back, he looked down to his clothes and smiled slightly. No longer the darkness of black, but the passion of crimson... no longer would good men need to hide in fear of him, but would instead swell with pride at seeing one who fought for them... no longer would he feel as if he were betraying the memory of his father and the virtues he followed... he is of the Gerhart blood, and his Honor is once again pure...

[01:48] Deathwisp: well I always rub the fuzzy part before I pull it off
[01:48] Mave: ...what?
[01:49] Deathwisp: you know, the fuzzy... nvm
