Baron Thrax's courier has delivered this letter to King Sid of Yew...

"Your Majesty,

Greetings,

I will not waste your time and mine in childish banter. I shall get straight to the point and pray you shall do the same.

I was privvy to the contents of a letter from your Lord, Adrien Garnier, wherein he issued a challenge to my Lord, Tarothin Armunn, to conduct battles between champions to decide who has rights to territories within Felucca. (I found the basic idea one that I have long been fond of, thinking it would be a wise way to prevent unnecessary loss of life and the accompanying carnage of war).

Knowing that over half his real army is comprised of Sanctans, and seeing how you are King Talon's vassal (let's be honest sir), he is obliged to defend Yew. He must do this despite his desires since if Talon pulled out of the Protectorate in anger over abandoning Yew's defense, it would crumble faster than it will eventually anyway. So as long as you are adamant in holding onto Yew, he is obliged to defend it, just as I am obliged to continue the struggle for it.

My suggestion is this.

Let's you and I choose one or two champions to contest the rights to rule Yew, Felucca. In addition, if you desire, and if my Lord Armunn is amenable, this battle can be refought again within the framework of a suitable timetable (say six months?), and the winner either retains or relinquishes control for the next six-month (or appropriate) period of time.

What say you? I welcome any response. I pray that your answer will be worthy of a respectable King. Do I ask too much?

Your former vassal,
Thraxanduril"

*messenger arrives*
Lord Sid opens the note and reads it and bursts out in uncontrollable laughter after wiping a ear from his eye he calls forth his scribe "Master Jangiri you are familier with this man please give him the Kingdoms view on his incoherant babbling" Jangiri reads the letter and smiles.

Mr Thrax

On the behalf of the Kingdom of Yew we are pleased to find you still alive and well enough to continue making idle threats, you can not possibly think that a King would bet his Kingdom over a match and even if the King was to say yes his advisers would never let him do it, as for you, you have earned another charge against your head and the Kingdom of Yew would administer your punishment with a swift turn of the axe should you turn yourself in. Your anarchy and treachery are noted and you may now consider yourself a wanted man with a price on his head.

Master Jangiri
Record Keeper of Yew

Baron Thrax received the reply and read it. Smiling, he pens a reply.

"Your "Majesty"

I knew I was asking too much of you.

I will now refer to you as did your Lord to my Lord in his own missive, though, in this case, it is quite apt...

Coward.

And your illiteracy is also noted, seeing how you obviously cannot with your own hand write a reply but have craven underlings do it for you.

And, for the record, the price on my handsome, regal, head, is not nearly as high as the one I place on your fat and ugly one.

I claim Yew as my own, and from henceforth shall do with it as I will. If you are man enough to stop me, try.

And good luck, coward.

Worst regards,
Thraxanduril
King of Yew"
