Adrien,

Beowulf has informed me that we are to fight a small series of duels against two of your selected men. I realize you and Tarothin are going back and forth between letters, as I see him in his keep writing frivolously.

Send me a time and date, and we will get things underway, while you and Tarothin continue your neverending battle of words.

-Vaen Swiftar

"Vaen",

To be frank, I've no idea who you nor "Beowulf" are, aside from the fact your listed as a current enemy of the state. That being said, you address me as "Adrien", I had no idea you and I,Mister Swiftar were on such informal terms.

I would further note, I have always showed your Emperor the proper respect of his position, making use of his title and not resorting to petty insults, a courtesy that has yet to be returned.

I do not discuss matters of national importance in informal letters, from servants of my enemy without any credentials.

You must forgive me, but to my ears Mister Swifter, the name "Vaen Swiftar" means very little, other then the fact you are apparently inept with social niceties and have some prowess in the art of combat as you are one of Emperor Armunn's champions.

My apologies if this letter is taken as harsh or offensive in manner. I am a head of state, a very large state, and expect certain commonly accepted decent practices to exist between enemies.

His Majesty, Lord Adrien Garnier
Governor-Regent of Britannia
Royal-Protector of the Throne of Lord British, King of Britannia

Addy,

Respect is earned. Not handed out on silver platters. I realize that you may be used to receiving things on silver platters with your "The New Regency" government. And that people may be kissing your ass in order to get under your favored hand. But with me, I will do no such thing.

My social niceties are far from indept, but I don't go blowing sunshine up everyone's ass. So if being a realist has caused me to slip on the Social Scale of Niceness, it's no thorn in my side.

I do, however, have some matters of importance to speak to you about. In private. I'm sure Toni would agree.

- Vaen

Seeing no reply, Vaen smirked and nodded to himself. "As I thought. This regent is no different than the others. Suppose I'll have to make my point in a more... personal... approach."

Vaen quickly scribed a letter to Beowulf

Beowulf,

Time is fast approaching. Let us prepare for a meeting with Adrien.

V.

A messenger knocked rapidly on the door of the Thormears home in Umbra. Atira answered, tearing the letter from the messengers hand. She walked into her fathers study and dropped it on his desk.

Beowulf later received the letter. He shrugged and hollared for his son Koehn. He threw him a brown shroud.

"Go to Nujelm and look for Sarian. Tell him to meet me here within the next few minutes. Make it quick boy."
