Vaen looked over the document and shook his head. "Murder of innocent civilians? Whatever propaganda works, I suppose."

Skimming over the decree one last time, spoke softly, "Just another power-hungry regent eager to make a stamp in this land. And what better way than to go after some of the greatest names this land has ever heard."

Looking down at a piece of paper, shaking his head once more, "If they only knew."

Lomar, the priest of Oggaroth, walked slowly into a small village in the forests outside of Yew in the dark facet. The village itself was empty with some of the houses on fire with the smoke filling the air like a dense fog. Corpses of villagers and armored fighters filled the ground within the village. It was clear to Lomar that his master Oggaroth was recently here. Suddenly, the priest heard sounds of weapons clashing and screaming. Lomar smiled heavily realizing his master might still be here. The priest walked in the village to where the sounds were coming from.

Upon turning the corner of one of the houses, Lomar spotted more corpses of men in various suits of armor. Many of them were laying on the ground with one of the fighters pinned off his feet against one of the houses with a katana through his stomach and the wooden door leading inside the house. Lomar then glanced at Spawn, the avatar of Oggaroth holding one of the fighters off his feet by his neck. The man stuggled to free himself of the tight grip of Spawn's armored hand.

"Declare your allegiance to me and this all ends mortal" Spawn said tighting his grip on the man.

"N...Nev...Never! My loyalty lies with the Governor Regent!" said the man grabbing Spawn's hand with both of his hands trying to free himself.

"I'm disappointed to hear that... I guess you're no longer useful to me" Spawn said as his crimson eyes narrowed at the man. His grip became tighter and tighter on the poor man's neck before a loud snap was heard. Lomar continued to watch as Spawn threw the now lifeless man onto the ground. The priest glanced down at one of the corpses noticing a piece of parchment in it's hand. Spawn walked over to the corpse that was pinned to the house with his katana like a sign. The wood of the door became soaked in blood from the sword wound on the man's stomach. Spawn placed his cold armor hand on the handle of his katana pulling it quickly. The man fell to the ground like a limp doll as the katana was pulled out of him. The only thing left on the door was the hole from Spawn's katana and the man's blood. Lomar kneeled down and picked up the parchment he saw eariler.

Spawn glanced over to his priest who was reading the parcment and began to walk towards him with the bloody katana in hand.

"What do you have there priest?" Spawn said holding out his hand.

"Something that I think you will found amusing master" said Lomar placing the parchment into his master's hand. Spawn ripped the parchment from his priest and began to read it. After a few moments, he dropped the parchment which was the royal decree from The Britannian Protectorate ordering his arrest and began to laugh hysterically. Lomar glanced at parchment then to Spawn who was slowly walking away from him in the direction of Yew.

"Master? Where are we going?" Lomar asked loudly so his master could hear.

"To secure Thraxanduril's newly accquired city as I promised him" Spawn said as he started to laugh again. Lomar nodded as he walked quickly to keep up with his master. Spawn's evil laugh echoed throughout the village which now looked like a graveyard.

Mave watched as the messenger galloped away. Ever since the first one that he had spared , word had gotten around to the other messengers as far as where to go and who to see. Mave smiled and chuckled to himself, at least he was always one of the first to get the information.

Reading over the parchment, Mave quickly motioned to Belegohtar. In a flash they had taken to the air and caught up with the messenger. As they landed infront of the man's horse, his eyes widened to the point you would have thought Mave had ordered him fed to his dragon right then and there.

"Do not be afraid" Mave said, "I only wish a message delivered back."

The messenger let out a slow breath but still looked ready to bolt at a moment's notice.

Stuffing the decree the messenger had given him into a pouch, Mave held out his hand for another copy. When the man handed it to him, he flipped it over and begin scribbling a response to this declared Governer of the land.

Adrien Garnier,
Your accusation of treason is not only rediculous, but unfounded. Since your little club was not even created until after any actions you are accusing of took place, there is no body or state for us to have committed treason against. Also, even if you had been established, we do not live under your law and therefore could not possibly commit treason against you or anyone we have had contact with.

Also, you speak of innocents murdered. I can only speak for myself but anyone that I have drawn my blade against has not been innocent. They were either soldiers or had a hand in the kidnapping or the harboring if the kidnappers of my Alessandra. Therefore none of these people were innocent and were dealt with accordingly.

As such, not only do you not have any true accusations to bring towards me, you also do not have the authority to arrest nor even touch a hair on the head of myself or any that I love. You must truly be trying to use this as a springboard to more power because it is only a madman that would bring such charges forward and then send people he is supposed to be governing to certain death. Because trust me Garnier, anyone that you send to arrest those on your list will be met with just that.

I pray that you see the error of your ways before it is too late. Until that day, I hope that you find a way to walk in Honor.

Lord Mave Gerhart

Handing the paper back to the messenger, Mave flipped him a coin.

"Be sure that this gets directly to this Garnier", he said. "Oh, and if I were you, I would make a point of stressing to this governor how many lives, both of your men and others, that I have spared."

With a quick nod and a "Of course m'Lord", the messenger took one last glance then galloped off.

"This man is either a fool or... no, he must be a fool." Mave grumbled quietly to Belegohtar as he turned back towards Dark Cove.

Lord Gerhart,

I usually do not offer criminals any reason for my actions, but in return for the "sparing" of several couriers as well as a desire to educate the ignorant I shall offer you an explanation as to why your logic is intrinsically flawed.

Firstly, my accusations of treason and quite grounded in reality. The Britannian Protectorate has dedicated itself to the protection and re-unification of the lands of Lord British, our king. Unless you claim to be a native of Umbra The rest of Sosaria is either formerly of British Control, or under control of one of Britannia's sister kingdoms or allied nations. Therefore by swearing yourself to this Armunn Empire you treacherously revoke any loyalty you hold to the Throne of Lord British which was required of you at your birth.

Secondly, as you may not have known, Lady Ivory Wright a woman your empire captured and tortured is a member in good-standing of King Skyfire's court and the Kingdom of Sanctus our trusted allies and friends. By those actions your Empire openly exhibited hostility on Sanctus and a desire for war and in doing so by default declaring the same on the collective nations and peoples of the Britannian Protectorate.

Thirdly, Duchess Starfire of Skara Brae is a trusted friend and ally of the Britannian Protectorate. Your Empire's acquisition of her lands through intimidation was an act of hostility against the Governor-Regent Elect directly.

Fourthly, you have raised swords with friend and brother King Sid of Yew and the Northland militia our trusted allies and have further sought the demise of the remnant of of the Noble Militia.

My point proven, I offer you one chance to take those you love and defect to the Britannian Protectorate and raise swords against the Armunn Empire. For this act I shall consider pardoned of any offense and shall not feel the urge to pursue any further justice on behalf of the people I serve.

May the Virtues Guide You,
Lord Adrien Garnier
Governor-Regent Elect
The Britannian Protectorate

*chuckling to himself, Mave held up one finger, motioning for the messenger to wait while he wrote a reply*

Adrien Garnier,

Since you seem to be such a student of history, perhaps you should have investigated further the history of those you accuse. Please allow me to enlighten you as to mine.

I was born in Luna my good sir, son to the Commander of the King's Knights. Therefore, I do not fall under your wide cast of Lord British's domain. Also, being raised side by side with the crowned Prince Inkari, when his father died, I was promoted to General of the realm and also named a Prince of the Realm. So, as you can see, I held rule of the Kingdom of Luna long before any of your allies or sister groups and therefore do not fall under your supposed laws. Also, it is only by my good graces and being occupied by other matters that I have not returned to retake the land that is rightfully mine and return it to its former glory.

Secondly, I did not have a hand in, nor was aware of any involvement by the Dark Order with any kidnapping or torture of anyone in Skyfire's court. So please do not bring this accusation to me as I have nor had any part or inclination of it.

Thirdly, if you have a problem with Duchess Starfire declaring her vassalship to the Order, please bring your dissatisfaction to her attention, do not try and use her decisions as a reason to further your witch hunt.

And lastly, concerning your supposed allies the Northland Militia, I did not spill a drop of blood until this Militia committed the dastardly and cowardly act of kidnapping Lady Alessandra. Thus they committed an act of violence and war against my house personally and any actions were a result of their attack. If anyone should be tried in your courts, look towards your allies in the Militia.

Now that I trust you have seen each of your errors, I will close with this. I cannot accept your invitation for two reasons. One, because I detest those that try to use me and mine as a stepping stone to greater glory which is what it appears to me you are doing. If I am mistaken in this regard and you now see that your accusations of me are indeed unfounded, I will accept your apology and offer one of my own for that previous statement. However, the second reason is this, your Protectorate lacks the strength and conviction to do what is necessary. Where was this Protectorate when my family was attacked in Luna? Where was this Protectorate when my Alessandra was kidnapped? Your group will fail because it lacks the strength to protect those it promises its protection to. Also, you proved the conviction it lacks in your previous letter. If the supposed crimes you have accused me of are so horrible, why then offer me a pardon simply for drawing my blade for your side.

I can only take this two ways, either you understand that your accusations are unfounded, or you simply wish the strength of my steel. If the first is correct, perhaps we will meet each other on better circumstances one day. If the latter is correct, my mercenary days are long behind me. True order can only be achieved though superior strength, and you sir lack that strength.

Walk in Honor,
Lord Mave Gerhart
