Audrina couldn’t quite understand if losing her child to the Dark Order was more heartbreaking or more demeaning. Due to her lack of compassion, she figured it must be the latter. The Dark Order and Umbra got along just fine, Audrina was well aware that her daughter would be safe in the hands of a trusted friend. But she was still angry, angry that she had lost and more importantly, angry that Beowulf had won. Braelyn continued to grow quickly, which did not bother Audrina, but she knew that soon Beowulf would begin to train her.

At first she knew there was nothing she could possibly do. The Matriarchs allowed for this and their word is something she would never challenge. Although, as time moved forward her mind began to race with ideas.

The first idea stemmed from the woman that had delivered Braelyn, Merrique. She remembered her speaking of a potion that could stop what seemed like a never ending cycle of births and pregnancies. At the time Audrina thought nothing of it, perhaps because she was in the swing of labor or maybe because she did not want to think of her last child not being Umbran. Regardless, the idea began to weigh heavily on her mind.

She loathed the fact that her duties were affected by a child that would not even be Umbran and after much thought she had decided. She sought after Merrique.

Merrique seemed somewhat frightened to be in Audrina’s presence again, but Audrina didn’t mind. ”It looks like you are still in shock.” She laughed to herself, looking towards Merri.

Merrique quickly shook her head. She knew why Audrina had come and it wasn’t long after her arrival that she was ready for her departure.

”I would appreciate if this stays between you and I, Merrique.”

”Of course. I will speak to my friend immediately. Remember, you will need to hold Beowulf off until I get the first supply to you.”

”I will see what I can do.” Audrina laughed and bid Merrique farewell.

A sense of relief fell over Audrina as she walked out of the tavern. Her body had taken a beating from the multiple births and although she hid it well, she was exhausted. Now to decide if I should tell Beowulf.
