Lee closed the fertility books Ceinwyn had copied for her and looked into the mirror. She studied her own face. Was she ready? Was she ready to devote two years to pregnancy? And then the many following years to raising a child? Letting go of Rhiannon had left an empty place in her heart. Lee did want a child of her own – an elven child.

Daz would be a wonderful father. His heart was good as gold. He was light-hearted, tender, and compassionate. He was ready.

She smiled to her reflection in the mirror. She spoke aloud to herself, “I am ready, too.”
